I need help choosing a computer to buy

I just received 300 dollars, its leftover money from my grant that was not used to pay the school or buy books. I want to use it to buy a computer I am thinking about tablets, desktop, laptops, or even one of those computer sticks that you plug into a flat screen tv. I need it to view power points, process word documents, create business plans, and other things. It doesnt need to be gaming quality video graphics or anything like that. I actually used to build gaming computers and sell them but ive been out of the loop for YEARS now. I understand 300 bucks is going to limit me greatly. Do you guys have any ideas about what purchase I should make? I want the highest GHZ quad core processor, and the most and fastest ram i can get, HD size matters very little because im not downloading DVDS or anything. Ive been looking all over newegg.com and tigerdirect, walmart, and amazon. Im starting to get pretty frustrated because even with just 300 bucks I have hundreds of pretty awesome sounding possibilities. I am even open to buying components and building a system but I dont think I can afford all the parts and a operating system key so i think thats out the door.
Any help would be appreciated allot. Even if you just let me know what device you have that is 300 or less and why you like it.

This is a pretty badass deal right?

the reason my computer kicks so much ass is cuz it's on an SSD
with laptops you want to check reviews and see how the wifi is
that computer is ok but a i3 from post 2012 would be ideal with all the crazy ad shit and stupid graphics in windows

You don't want a new laptop. Lightning hit my shit like a year ago and I had to replace my laptop I'd had since 2007. I went shopping and the cheapest was like $500 for a pos. I'm talking no speakers, or no DVD drive, weak processor/onboard graphics. If you buy new you'll end up with the lowest budget model and overpaying for it. If you buy something a couple years old it'll be half the price and mid-range instead of budget.
I ended up getting a HP Probook from 2012 with an i3 in it. To me its badass just cause it puts my old laptop to shame....its widescreen aspect ratio (16:9), plays 1080p flawlessly using the Intel HD Graphics 3000 included in the i3 processor, HDMI to output to my 1080p TV. DDR3 upgradeable to 16GB (came with 8GB). All the ports I need including a hybrid eSata/USB port. ExpressCard slots on the newer laptops (since like...2011) also run on a PCIe 1x bus so you can hotwire-in an external (read: desktop) graphics card. 300GB hdd, and other features like bluetooth and more. Only things I wish it had are an actual 1080p display, a ssd (I can upgrade later), and integrated graphics with decent graphics memory. Modern Intel HD Graphics included in the i3/i5/i7 are actually decent at playing games on low settings, they're just bottlenecked by the 64mb of dedicated graphics memory.
It ran me $250. $300 can buy you a very good mid-range laptop that'll have enough ram and processing power to handle high-def videos/browsing for the next several years. Websites keep getting more bloated with higher-def content that eats ram and makes computers obsolete fast, 4GB isn't even enough anymore you'll be hitting pagefile and wondering why your shit is slow, lol.

BTW what you posted isn't a good deal. You'd still need a display, which can run $100 if you don't already have 1. And that processor is slower than Core2Duo's, which were like 2 generations ago. That'd put it on par with something from 2007/2008.

Cold hard fact: You're really not going to get anything remotely decent for 300 dollars. Anything you get that cheap is either going to crap out inside of a year, or be severely lacking in at least on aspect (but most likely, all of them). You MIGHT be able to find something decent on craigslist, but that's really damn iffy.
Even 4-500 dollar Walmart computers are better than that, and they come with a monitor. 2 GB of ram? are we back in 2005?
I honestly wouldn't even buy that computer. Even on a budget. Total waste of money. Money could be better used elsewhere or saved to get something decent.
(All my opinion of course)

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and bought the one I posted, because I HAVE to get something right now. I already have a display, speakers, keyboard and all that. Ill try and see if I can upgrade the RAM in it. I figure if I buy this to get my homework submitted for this semester, and save to get something better it will be good enough. I got the computer for 88 dollars, and it will link to the online web site to turn my homework in im sure. Plus I have 200 dollars extra to get a Nexus 7 16gb refurbished from wal mart.com so now i can do homework at home, and travel around and do it too was my reasoning. I know the computer is slow, like I said I used to build them. But the computer im on now, its a 2001 HP with a single core 2.5ghz and 2gb ram, and the on board video is slowly going out on it, sometimes when i boot up my monitor says no signal. It was kind of an emergency thing to just get a computer on the way.
Plus Texas Roadhouse sponsored that deal, and after i made the purchase, I found out I have a 30 dollar texas roadhouse gift card on the way, so basically i paid 58.00
