If we can't get into our politics talk to your fellow kinsman because all you Canadian fuckers are waaaaaaaaaaaaay too obsessed with our elections. There has literally been more presidential candidate threads made by Canadians in the last few months, than US residents.
As for who, my answer remains the same regardless of country. No one. Its just all recycled shit.

Shit in shit out. Fact. Every single time someone is elected into a place of power, they garner votes by making empty promises and telling people what they want to hear.

Yeah me too I went to the strategic voting site and they said liberal in my riding. I would have gone NDP or green too but getting Harper out is the most important thing here. I am going to be so choked if Harper wins

Feel free to provide feedback regarding the Canadian election, there is nothing wrong with staying informed about the politics in other countries.
@OP: My area has a strong Liberal presence, so they are getting my vote as they stand the most likelihood of keeping the seat away from the Conservatives.
This election is mostly about choosing the least worst option. Vote anything but conservative -- then may consider giving them my vote again after Harper has stepped down. At very least want him away from the head of the ship though.

Not sure if anyone watches/cares about the poll tracker, but NDP has been on a downward trend recently, with the fight for first being between Conservative and Liberal.

The Socialist Party (SP) is a left-wing social-democratic political party in the Netherlands.
Socialist Party (The Netherlands)
For those of you who don't know what "Social Democratic" means, its

A party that is in the green field of the political compass as opposed to the rightwing-authoritarian blue field where all your 2012 presidential candidates except Ron Paul were from.
The green field is where thugs like Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi and the Dalai Lama hang out:

You have a point but not for the right reasons...
We are guaranteed a minority government, its like 30%-30%-25%-5% in the polls. 2 of the eading parties are on the left, so no matter who gets elected, the left holds the balance of power... So that's why I would lie harper to keep his job. he's got 10 years experience on the international picture... The other paties will be passing the bills so all he'll be the rep to othercountries basically.... But im still going NDP with have 25% and will most certainly lose....

No, really. He did.
I heard it.
I don't give a shit a marijuana laws though. Of course it has to be legalized, taxed so the cops can work on real cases and the prisons emptied so they can reinvest ll the saving in universal rehab centers.... But I don't care really... Drugs create jobs in the justice sector so It's all good. A low priority...
Then again, I've been trying to give a fuck abot these elections and there doesn't seem to be any priorities... Don't fix it if it aint broken kinda thing. There's no actual issue that I care about. The NDP's universal child care senior care and national 15$ per day daycare centers are great ideas, awesome concepts really. We'll have to pay 700% more taxes, but the idea is good... Of course. I don't have a kid nor am I a senior, so to me it's all money spent on other people (as usual, I'm a single male. There are no perks for me ever. On top of not getting laid on the regular).

With the way our current party was found guilty of electoral fraud by the fucking courts, which for some miraculous reasons most Canadians just shrugged off. Im starting to think Canada is turning into Russia 2.0. Not to mention the 10 or 12 conservative cabinet members who've been found guilty of various whitecollar crimes over the last two terms. At this point, Im starting to doubt the efficacy of voting in this country.

Harper couldnt even close two major deals with America, he cant even reach an agreement on the trans atlantic partnership either, and thats who you'd prefer to trust with international policy? Not to mention they completely tanked our economy.

They're all reptilians so it doesn't really matter... BUT justin trudeau seems like the logical choice. He has a better connection with the youth of today, and the youth are the future.
And legal weed? Cmon that's fuckin awesome. Plus he just seems like a cool dude. Stephen harper is a child molester. You can see it in his face.

God only knows what's going on under that table...

Fuckin creep.
NDP all the way, if I can get my ID in time to vote.
I'm working for this marketing company taking surveys for the conservatives, so whenever someone gets pissed off at me for calling on behalf of Harper, I feel uplifted. What they dont know Is I'm on their side

Glad to see you're finally coming to your senses.

He's the only candidate with balls that has a chance at winning and won't be controlled by corporate donors keeping him from getting anything done. He may not be the smartest candidate but I can see him actually being able to manage congress and accomplish things rather then dithering for years over a single thing.
Basically he's our Putin. Which we kind of need right now imo.

I think it's funny that you guys just automatically believe the illusion he feeds you

I hope you're right, and I understand the polls are often wrong, but so far its looking like a conservative minority. If only all the non-crazies could get together and vote for a single party. It is annoying that the left is split between three federal parties, while the right gets one, and as such is far more likely to win. Damn vote splitting.

I am not happy with all the shit that happened on Harper's watch. Stricter drug laws. entering our military into conflicts that have nothing to do with us. Rounding up people at the G20 summit as a show of force. Trying to stir up racism with anti muslim rhetoric. Letting international oil companies rape us. Destroying the gun registry even though the police used it many times a day. Now when the cops attend domestic calls they have no idea if there are guns inside. But this ass clown claims he is tough on crime.
Quote:
Patlal said:
I don't give a shit a marijuana laws though. Of course it has to be legalized, taxed so the cops can work on real cases and the prisons emptied so they can reinvest ll the saving in universal rehab centers.... But I don't care really... Drugs create jobs in the justice sector so It's all good. A low priority...
.
That's not how it works. There is no justice sector, they don't produce anything. The entire justice system is just a great big expense. Those are made up jobs that if cut just save the taxpayer money. It's like saying hiring 50 new thousand civil servants is good for economy. Why not give everyone a government job then? The cost of policing has reaching epic levels, it's a huge part of cities budgets. Every narc being fired would save you money on your property taxes. The length of delays in trials is also insane, why are we making it worse? I don't think we need more stress on justice system with more drug crimes that surveys show most people don't care about. Don't buy into the prison industrial complex. I would rather have tax savings from having no drug offenders in prison. Those savings are what stimulates economy not another prison guard job.

Not really of major importance, but found a degree of interest in this article:
Quote:
For comparison, these were the top word pairs for the general population:
Stephen Harper – Fair Elections, Canadian disabilities Justin Trudeau – Canadian veterans, Surveillance police Tom Mulcair – Canadian disabilities, Clarity Act Elizabeth May – Canadian veterans, Violation charter Gilles Duceppe – Services publics, Etat Islamique (Public services and Islamic State)
Chan suggests the difference in word pairs between young voters and the rest of the population may be due to parties targeting certain groups with tailored messages. "One possible reason might be they are talking to Canadians about different things," he said.
Quote:
For comparison, these were the most-discussed issues for the general population:
Economic issues – 63 per cent Social issues – 37 per cent Foreign policy – 39 per cent Environment/Energy – 31 per cent Governance – 34 per cent Government benefits – 26 per cent Terrorism/Intelligence/Surveillance – 25 per cent
The Facebook data shows the discussion among young voters is slightly weaker on most issues, by a few percentage points, with the exception of social issues. That category was the second most-talked about topic of discussion among young voters, and third among the general population. At the other end of the scale, young voters talked significantly less often about governance, when compared to the general population.
http://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/election/election-insights-what-are-young-canadians-discussing-on-facebook-1.2601289
A lot of focus among younger people on the whole issue with the niqab rulings and Muslims seems to be happening in the wake of the French debates. The generational differences were of interest to me though.

Advance polling opens up today until Monday.
For anyone who doesn't know, at the advance polls you go there and are given a special package to take and mail away. It needs to be to there by election day or it doesn't count so if you're going to go that route I'd send it away as soon as possible.

But what about all the strains you could get in a coffe shop. Diversity and real customer information on strains with lab tests . What about my brother and other people who have crohn disease and could atleast fuckin try cbd extract. Also other patients dealing with serious illness but have to be in terminal phase to acess weed .What about having the right of growing in relativly low quantity like tabbaco . And what about not being a fuckin criminal?

Only some parts in BC like Van have easy acess to those card. In Quebec you have to be fuckin dying .it has to be last resort . My brother did everything since 5years to have it but simply can't .you really need a doctor that is pro cannabis which is rare as fck around here even tho some people CURED their crohn with CBD

When I was living in Montréal, my doctor was so adamantly against signing papers himself that he gave me a referral to travel to a specialist in Ontario who ended up signing for me.
Living in the prairies now -- there are people who fly out to Vancouver for a clinic to sign.

The Conservatives want every dispensary in the country shut down and for anyone licensed for medical cannabis to have to go through the mail order system. Then they turned around and cracked down on the medical websites saying they can't provide pictures of their product, or any reference to what strains are good for which health conditions.
At least for Vancouver the city on the whole considers the Conservatives new medical laws to be nonsense and is blazing its own path. Tons of compassion clubs, and the police don't bust them even though the federal government has tried insisting they do so. Seem to recall the city actually doing up their own legislation in order to be able to tax compassion clubs, despite Conservative protestation of all the clubs being illegal.

Went out and cast my vote in the advanced polls yesterday.
Voter turnout for advanced polls was apparently up quite a bit this year.
Let's hope it is an indicator that more people are getting out to vote Harper out.

That pisses me off, not that you can do it, but that I can't. It's one country with law enforced in some places not others. No dispensaries in Calgary. I don't think there are any in Alberta at all. Yet greater Van has dozens.

It used to be possible to get a doctor to sign via skype call to BC if you had a doctor or specialist that could provide reference and your file. Then there was a provision that made it so that they could only be performed in province -- now you would have to physically travel to BC and get them to sign, then look into applying to a compassion club (or one of Health Canada's approved mail-order companies) at that point.
Spent a few months getting mail-order from a compassion club in Vancouver -- not sure if they have changed their operating policies since then. At the time, was required to send in a copy of my medical license so they could contact Health Canada and verify registration.

some dispensaries are pretty slack, i didn't even get a real doctor to sign my form. i've heard of a few places who will sell to people without a form as well, i'm sure you could find someone who would hook you up, given you don't look like a cop.

u're all slaves!
i think it's cute when canadians discuss politics amongst themselves
anyway, u're all slaves!
do not vote, when u vote u're basically giving up ur rights, or rather u are gambling them, u're saying to peeps "here!, take my rights, for i am not worthy of theym, do with me as u please", then they proceed to fuck u in the ass until u bleed and the blood turns all crusty around the rim, and then they fuck u a gain.

For anyone who doesn't know, at the advance polls you go there and are given a special package to take and mail away. It needs to be to there by election day or it doesn't count so if you're going to go that route I'd send it away as soon as possible.
This is misinformation. Not sure where you heard this, but this pertains to if you're out of your normal riding and can't vote at your normal polling station or your designated advanced polling station.
I personally voted at my advanced polling station and I submitted a ballot just like normal. There was no special package provided to me that I had to mail in or anything of the sort
I voted liberals because that is who is most likely to beat the conservative seat in my riding. At this point it's looking very close, either a liberal minority or a conservative minority.
But likely with a conservative minority we will be heading back to the polls pretty soon. The other parties just can't stand Harper and neither can I. What a fucking idiot.
It's just sad to see how brainwashed so many Canadians are that they actually believe the nonsense that spews out of Harper's mouth.
What a fucking joke and disgrace to our whole country.

You can still get verified through skype, but the places that have these doctors charge 300-400$ for a yearly membership, and the med cards are only active for 1 year, meaning you're paying that much for a med card per year
For most people, it isn't worth it.

nah dude i'm sure they don't all charge that ridiculous of a price. maybe the ones downtown on the West End do but I guarantee you there's other places out there especially on the East end that are much cheaper. i was just looking at a dispensary a couple months back in south van that has free doctor's visits on Wednesday or something, and i remember this other place has them for only $40 bucks or something. they make a killing on weed sales, they can afford it.

I'm talking about doing a skype interview, through the internet to get a card.
I'm from Ontario and it's much harder. In van or BC yeah, 20-40$ and a 10 minute visit and you're good to go

Dont hold out on the conservatives, whoever you're voting for. One thing I'll never be able to wrap my head around is how you can seriously consider him for a third term with his dismal track record. Its like you dont even have the slightest awareness about what his party actually does and would rather just vote based on what you see in their sponsored ads. Personally Mulcair all the way, Id vote for Trudeau but Id much rather stiff Harper on a seat by voting strategically.

I'm going to vote for Trump, provided he also build a wall between the US and Canada.
You maple-scented devils to the North are flooding our country with cheap forest products, and I won't stand for it.
But seriously, Trump. I can't vote in Canada. I'd suggest you post the question in a Canadian website but then I remembered that half your country still uses dialup... and you wonder why Americans often forget there's even a Canada.

Whether you agree with the rest of his agenda or not, Sanders is the only candidate willing to take on big money in politics.
If that were the only thing he managed to get done in 4 years his presidency would be a resounding success.

So I was going to vote NDP but now apparently they have no chance of winning. I hate Trudeau very musch and I'm not voting for a part that has 0 chance to win....
So again, the only option I have left is Harper. It's been like that for the last 10 years...
Plus I live in a Liberal stronghold so it doesn't even matter who I vote for...
Anyone but Trudeau in my book. I don't know how this guy can be liked personally. He's so weird....

Voting in no way gives away your rights. You dont vote? You still have to live with the party you didnt want, follow the laws, listen to the bullshit. If its true that voting does nothint, then to vote is simply an empty gesture, not signing your rights away

Yet it affects visible change, you along with your fellow citizens get to cast a vote to decide who gets to run the next term in parliament/office. I dont know if your from the states or not but you also get to vote on senate/cabinet members. short of direct democracy, which would never work anyways, his seems to be the most effective method of governance we have. Maybe they want you to believe it doesnt change anything so your less of a threat to them.

maybe u're right, i'd say it all depends on the voice of reason which the people elect, i dont know how they do things in canada, but here in the US of A they usually kill the peeps who try to make a real change, and ironically that real change only comes when the politicians turn against their own, which is something most aren't willing to do cuz they risk jeopardizing their careers as well as their lives.
just goes to show tho what we are really after; freedom from governments, and so long as these kinds of politics exist we will never truly be free.

Trying my best to put my personal convictions aside and not go conservative.
The problem is I like a third of every party's policies and the other two thirds are either meh or similar to each other.

The conservative track record is a joke, and they've spent millions upon millions on ridiculous false advertising.
Half the shit they claim Trudeau is going to do isn't even true.
If Cons win I have a feeling we'll be back in an election within a couple months at max. There is no way they are getting a majority this time around.
If NDP had a chance of winning the seat in my riding I would have voted NDP, personally I prefer more of their platform. Problem is, they aren't, where I am it's between Liberal and Conservative and not a fucking chance in hell I will vote Harper in. He's a disgrace to the whole country.

The problem I'm hving is the fact that there are no important issues... Nothing anyone is proposing seems groundbreaking or even important...
Basically, my ideal would be to keep harper so we keep his foreign experience, but only as a minority so the Libs and NDP can control the country....
Then again....

Conservative economics (Low taxes for businesses, minimal government investment, let the private so it mentality) NDP universal child care (Fed kids do better in school. Doing better in school is good ofr the economy, less drop out, less crime, less addiction) Liberal pot laws. (great source of revenue, great source of direct savings because less prisoners and it'll unclog the system)
The rest is of much lesser importance to me even if the dollar amounts are bigger.
I'll spend sunday reading all the promises and figure out which are plausible, which are useless and figure from there...

I voted in advanced polls
Already driven my gf to vote today and later am driving two others.
Anyone not voting conservative in my area can get a free ride from me to their polling station
Judging by how accurate the polls from 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2011 were its very likely that we are going to see a liberal minority government. Even if conservatives pull off a minority shit just aint gonna work out for them. There will be a coalition or a new election damn soon.

I am going to vote for the supreme ancient alien beings who will come forth and liberate us from our subordinate atomic flesh.
To save us from the mindlessness which envelops our sad little civilisation. To save us from our selves. To perhaps aid us in destroying what beauty is left of the Earth.

I am so excited for a liberal government under Trudeau! Canada desperately needs a change in leadership and I believe we will finally have it today! If so I will be celebrating !
I am going to buy some of my favourite beer to celebrate tonight! And if somehow Harper wins I'll drink twice as much to kill the pain!

The Liberal's Chief Financial Officer on their board apparently was the CEO founder of Tweed prior to his position with the party.
I voted in the advanced polls, but I sure hope everyone is getting out and voting -- there is still, unfortunately, a chance the Conartists could win again. Even recent news stories have talked about how Con voters are less likely to talk about their voting tendencies in advance, but also better at getting people out to actually vote.

Click me.
Google has this interesting feature that if I google "Canada Election" it brings up this page at the top of the search results.
Not sure if anyone else can see it or whether it is genuinely accurate, however it is apparently listing the seats as they are declared (the East Coast has already started their vote tallies; Ontario and Québec will have their polling done and votes being counted while BC still has time to vote).
At the time of my posting it is saying 4 Liberal seats declared with 0 for the other parties so far. The page seems to automatically update itself.

Sure seems that way. No results from my riding yet even though there's tons from my time zone, the workers must be slacking. Worked in a returning office for a few elections and it was pretty fun having everyone call in with the results and then sending it out to go live.

Man I wish the US house could swing 150+ seats in one election, but house districting has been so corrupted by gerrymandering that it isn't possible. Must be nice living in a real democracy.

I'm also very thankful that there are more than two viable parties. Even though it's always one of the two big parties that wins overall, the smaller parties keep the big guys from getting too comfortable.

Are you an entrepreneur? Now is your time.
I'll believe it when the legislation is actually in place, but I am looking forward to it.

Justin Trudeau says a Liberal government would get to work "right away" on a policy to legalize and regulate the sale of marijuana, but won't commit to a timeline for legalization.
"We don't yet know exactly what rate we're going to be taxing it, how we're going to control it, or whether it will happen in the first months, within the first year, or whether it's going to take a year or two to kick in," Trudeau said on Wednesday night in Surrey, B.C.

Harper was getting fat there for a while, but it looks like maybe his wife told him to start jogging or something.

i've got a new campaign slogan,
"Don't be a chump, vote for Trump!"
although, i probably wont vote and i think the whole election is one big charade, providing the illusion of choice in order to keep the herd calm and under the impression that they matter, while the elite go about their way..making moves to eradicate nearly every inalienable right our forefathers came up with.
