Not really of major importance, but found a degree of interest in this article:
Quote:
For comparison, these were the top word pairs for the general population:
Stephen Harper – Fair Elections, Canadian disabilities Justin Trudeau – Canadian veterans, Surveillance police Tom Mulcair – Canadian disabilities, Clarity Act Elizabeth May – Canadian veterans, Violation charter Gilles Duceppe – Services publics, Etat Islamique (Public services and Islamic State)
Chan suggests the difference in word pairs between young voters and the rest of the population may be due to parties targeting certain groups with tailored messages. "One possible reason might be they are talking to Canadians about different things," he said.
Quote:
For comparison, these were the most-discussed issues for the general population:
Economic issues – 63 per cent Social issues – 37 per cent Foreign policy – 39 per cent Environment/Energy – 31 per cent Governance – 34 per cent Government benefits – 26 per cent Terrorism/Intelligence/Surveillance – 25 per cent
The Facebook data shows the discussion among young voters is slightly weaker on most issues, by a few percentage points, with the exception of social issues. That category was the second most-talked about topic of discussion among young voters, and third among the general population. At the other end of the scale, young voters talked significantly less often about governance, when compared to the general population.
http://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/election/election-insights-what-are-young-canadians-discussing-on-facebook-1.2601289
A lot of focus among younger people on the whole issue with the niqab rulings and Muslims seems to be happening in the wake of the French debates. The generational differences were of interest to me though.

Advance polling opens up today until Monday.
For anyone who doesn't know, at the advance polls you go there and are given a special package to take and mail away. It needs to be to there by election day or it doesn't count so if you're going to go that route I'd send it away as soon as possible.

It's funny in the sense that he thinks it's still the 50s and thinks we'll believe him when he says "marijuana is infinitely worse than tobacco " and the whole drug dealers are targeting youth shit..plus I don't give a fuck if it's legal or not.. Won't change anything, dealers will always be cheaper..ps just move to Vancouver here cops don't care about weed, to much other drugs and junkies to worry about

But what about all the strains you could get in a coffe shop. Diversity and real customer information on strains with lab tests . What about my brother and other people who have crohn disease and could atleast fuckin try cbd extract. Also other patients dealing with serious illness but have to be in terminal phase to acess weed .What about having the right of growing in relativly low quantity like tabbaco . And what about not being a fuckin criminal?
It changes everything,

Only some parts in BC like Van have easy acess to those card. In Quebec you have to be fuckin dying .it has to be last resort . My brother did everything since 5years to have it but simply can't .you really need a doctor that is pro cannabis which is rare as fck around here even tho some people CURED their crohn with CBD

Well in that case I have sympathy for you and your brother.. I guess when you grow up in a pot friendly city, it becomes normal and you think the rest or majority of Canada is as accepting as here

When I was living in Montréal, my doctor was so adamantly against signing papers himself that he gave me a referral to travel to a specialist in Ontario who ended up signing for me.
Living in the prairies now -- there are people who fly out to Vancouver for a clinic to sign.

stub your toe walking in the door and walk out with a weed prescription

The Conservatives want every dispensary in the country shut down and for anyone licensed for medical cannabis to have to go through the mail order system. Then they turned around and cracked down on the medical websites saying they can't provide pictures of their product, or any reference to what strains are good for which health conditions.
At least for Vancouver the city on the whole considers the Conservatives new medical laws to be nonsense and is blazing its own path. Tons of compassion clubs, and the police don't bust them even though the federal government has tried insisting they do so. Seem to recall the city actually doing up their own legislation in order to be able to tax compassion clubs, despite Conservative protestation of all the clubs being illegal.

Went out and cast my vote in the advanced polls yesterday.
Voter turnout for advanced polls was apparently up quite a bit this year.
Let's hope it is an indicator that more people are getting out to vote Harper out.

That pisses me off, not that you can do it, but that I can't. It's one country with law enforced in some places not others. No dispensaries in Calgary. I don't think there are any in Alberta at all. Yet greater Van has dozens.

Some dispensaries ship their weed, I wonder if their doctors would register someone out of province.
