Fall Actives In NW Ga?
    #22346985 - 10/07/15 07:05 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Hello, we have been getting good rain in my area and it's finally stopped. Tomorrow will be low 80's (not sure about the humidity).

However, I was thinking tomorrow would be a good day to go out hunting. What species could I expect to find in the NW section of Georgia?

Edibles, poisonous, and psychedelic.

Thanks in advance

Search for Psilocybe caerulescens (formerly called Psilocybe weilii) in the counties shown in green here.

Not northwest enough, is it possible to find it further northwest? I live in the Appalachian foothills.

Maybe, I think some were found in SC a few years ago and I think the person said they were in a mountainous terrain, I could be wrong though.  I don't know if it would be worth it for you though, who knows you could be the first to find them in that area.

I would suggest hunting active Gymnopilus sp. though, or take a trip down to one of the counties shown on the map I posted and spend the weekend in the area hunting for actives.

You can find some Gymnopilus sp. here on this page, make sure to research them well so you know what to look for.
