You know Terrence Mckennas stoned ape idea? Well I was wondering if taking small amount of mushrooms every so often or even earlier on in the day, would this enhance sparring ability like it helped the apes thousands of years ago..? I reckon it sounds like a good idea anyway

Are you asking if we think shrooms will make you a better boxer?

Opinions vary, but in short, yes. There are valid arguments that microdosing mushrooms can enhance athletic ability. Usually people are working with .1-.2 grams (sub-threshold). I "tried" the microdosing idea with .5g and found that it was MUCH too high and that the effects were very noticeable. What you're aiming for will be below the noticeable threshold.
Do some google searching; I literally read an article about this exact topic yesterday. It lacked peer review or citation, but it made some interesting points and pointed to more than just theory; apparently it's been tried and there is anecdotal evidence that it does indeed help athletic performance.
OOoooooooor you could just try boxing/sparring on 3-5 grams and let us know how it goes.

I think microdosing does improve hand-eye coordination, but I don't think it would have made enough of a difference to have been a serious factor in our evolution (I don't think microdosing would have necessitated one tribe's winning out over another, nor do I think microdosing would have been widespread enough to affect our evolution even if it was the case that microdosing had that much of an effect on a tribe's hunting skills).

This was McKenna's idea. He, keep in mind, had no problem at all with the taste of psilocybin mushrooms. He digested them, apparently, with ease. Most human beings are not so endowed. I can't imagine any widespread use of this article as an everyday item of dietary intake. Maybe if they were on the very verge mof starvation. Otherwise....nah.
That being said, if there is evidence that it might improve, at very low doses, athletic performance, why not experiment?

I have tested microdosing mushrooms before. For two weeks, every other day, I took a very small dose in the miligram range, but at some point I had an accident and started tripping.
I also believe I was getting progressiveley more unhinged during that time.
Maybe it is better to take one big dose and think a lot about boxing during than taking many small doses.
