RANDALL!!! That's awesome!!! Thank you!! Ive missed that thread and video. Thank you so much. And for all of your photos and tips. A decade plus ago, as a much younger fellow, I just managed to always spot what I was looking for without much thought into my methodology.
Years and years of not paying attention has dulled those less conscious instincts. I feel like I've been trying to relearn something that I used to know without realizing it. And you guys have been great teachers. Thank you!!

Psilocybe allenii. 12/28/15. East Bay. New finds.
1)
These specimens represent more or less all the contents of a tiny fruiting found outside an apartment complex in the heart of the ghetto.
2)
A single mushroom found growing at the opposite end of the same apartment complex.
3)
A substantial but somewhat weather damaged fruiting found at a city park. I'd visited the location a few times at earlier dates but hadn't made it back in recent weeks...Doh!
4)
A very well hidden and protected, yet equally weather affected patch found at a different part of the same city park.
5)
Yet another smaller patch found at the same park. It was, in fact, my gf who spotted all three patches at this location.

So, today i visited San Rafael with little luck. My first time biking the North bay and i figureed exploring would've been better in a car, im still not expirenced with uphill cycling, espcially in a city surroundded by mountains and water.
Ive been in the bay area the past 3 days and will continue out here for another week. Each day has been a new journey. Some days better than others, today was my first day coming home with an empty camera.
12-27-15 West Bay
Some person called the red wood city cops while i was in thier public apartment, hell , for all they know i couldve been ensuring that i enjoyed the bushes before moving in. Well , maybe they thought i was moving into the bushes based on the dedication i had towards them. OH how i love bushes just not georgre's. NO offence to anybody named george unless its george bush. Its not even Geroge bush , its natures bush so please mind your own bushness geoh nosey fux. I guess its nice to know that apartments recognize ppl who dont belong because it shows strength in a community but i dont think i look criminal. I guess there was no open space f these allenii . The cop asked what i was picking mushrooms for and i explained to him i wanted to throw them in my yard so the mycelium can spread and i dont have to come to random buildings.
He took my I.D , told me not to leave so i continued to pick mushrooms, even while he was talking to me. The dude saw the weed in my backpack and asked if i had a script , then asked if i was picking magic musrooms. I wanted to tell him i dont beleive in magic , just religon so these are religious mushrooms , like jesus, hope you had a ood christmas.
But i was like no, each musroom is special and different , you neeed a microspcoe to understand what differecncas im talking about( i dont even know ). Turns out i kept the mushrooms and he told me to pick everything in thhe area and get ghost.
this computer is trippin so im going to upload pictures after eating dinner.

Today:
1)
A few half-trampled allenii growing from a patch found a few weeks ago at the UC ******** campus.
2)
A fruiting of cyans from an East Bay patch found last season...which a week ago I covered with grass and leaves to protect from the dry wind. The last pic shows a couple allenii that popped up on the edge of the patch.
3)
Another smaller fruiting of cyans at the same general location...this one I had covered with only grass. Just as my gf and I finished harvesting 'em a young man came near and asked if we were mushroom hunting. He'd heard of cyans and thought it was very neat to seem 'em in person...so I offered him some, he said yes, and I gave him the baggie with all the fruits from this patch.
Bonus)
Trametes versicolor in Berkeley.

Today's hunting was slow, but I did find a new occurrence of Allenii - exactly two small mushrooms, wood chips in a park.
Also found a few small ones worth taking home, revisiting one of the earlier finds (which had been prolific before, but by now has become just a shadow of it former gloriously fruitful self.
But the big lesson for the day (I am new at this, or at least, it's been a long hiatus), was not to grumble under your breath about seeing lots of glorious habitat but not a basidiocarp to be found, lest, around the next corner, the fungal Gods should mock you with this:

West Bay
I discovered a patch of allenii that were deliberately raped, which upsets me most is that these inhumane fucks had to go out of thier way to rip out the mushrooms, then leave them aside. The patch is off the path behind a building. I understand if your a garderner and cleaning the area us your j-o-b, but hunting mushrooms is my hobby and i dedicate myself to it - like a job. Who pays who-ripping out mushrooms ? Mushrooms , unless they are getting eaten should be left alone. uggh i was so upset finding that , while also laughing at who ever did it because thier fucking idiots.

Patch - Rode for about a mile and found another patch, this one is much nicer and are cyanescens(not very common for me to photograph so far).
This cluster reminds me of a duck or something with a big bill-mayb a platypus?s.shroomery.org/files/15-53/158389196-Duck_face_cyans.jpg] [/url]
This patch may ave survivved if some leaves would have cased the pins, a few of them look aborted.

Patch 3 was very unexpected because there was very minimal woodcips, looked like they were fruiting inn pure dirt. There were a few other species growing with the allenii. A hypholoma, some big redish brown mushroom which looked like cortinarious(sp?)

Patch 4- A small patch found on my way to the transit station.

Went south today, my partner found one tiny, half-eaten allenii and after a bit more looking, this lovely:
That was it, but now we can call our first hunt of 2016 a success!
bonus pic of my dad dressed in a seemingly mushroom-related costume:

Happy New Year!

Found near a busy road and seem stunted/wind damaged. Couldn't get a spore print even when they were "fresh". They might be slightly rotten allenii. Confirmation?
East bay: Galerina or Tubaria?

Hi first trip to california and realised it was still hunting season and have been doing alot of research. Was planning on trying for an adventure to the bay area after this next round of storms to try my luck for actives. But I am afraid that the wind and maybe heavy rain might disrupt growth or that it might be to late in the season to hope for much? Does anyone have any thoughts on if the season is still in full swing and if the coming storms over the next 4 days will be conducive to a happy hunting expedition? Thank you for reading this and your time I am an avid mental explorer and these threads have been a huge help for research and safety in my endevours.

The season is still in full swing...and in fact in some spots it's barely gotten started. The wind isn't problematic except when it's dry wind, which we've had a lot of so far this season. Heavy rain is what we've all been waiting for, and these coming storms should indeed make for some happy hunting. Good luck out here!

No problem! Also, one thing I didn't mention is timing your hunt. Bay Area weather's been atrociously dry, cold and windy recently...so that, besides some rare exceptions, any already existing fruitings that haven't been found are now in the process of rotting (this is what happens when the mushrooms dry out and then get re-wetted.) This means that any patches you should hope to find on your expedition will have fruited by means of the current and upcoming rains. The fact to bear in mind, however, is that Psilocybes take one to two weeks to mature...and more towards the latter, or even longer, the colder the weather is. So, if at all possible, plan your hunting accordingly. On the other hand, if your schedule is inflexible and you're stuck with free time that's not within the optimal time-frame, still put in your all. For there's always a chance of unlikely surprises.

Today I visited some spots where I'd left pins before and during the holidays:
1)
P. cyanescens. This was a pin left accidentally at a patch I'd uncovered and harvested a week ago at last year's 'magic spot.' It's possible that it's actually an allenii...the patch has always had a few of the latter intermingled with it.
2)
P. allenii. About a week ago I left these as pins, uncovered, at a certain East Bay find from this season.
3)
P. allenii. I drove all the way to the North Bay to check on this find from a month ago...after all, eleven days ago I'd carefully covered a bunch of pins with live ivy and completely forgot about 'em this past weekend. What a disappointing sight today, lol. Half were uncovered, stunted, and damaged, while the other half, though covered, were midgeted and hardly worth the trouble.
4)
P. cyanescens. The North Bay specimens seen last were trophy winners compared to what I beheld when I crossed back over to the East Bay and visited what I'd covered eight days ago at this great spot from last year. All the fruits that stayed covered looked like the first pic, and all those that'd gotten uncovered looked like the second pic. All the latter I simply cut and left where they fell...stupid fucks.
Bonus)
A half-pound of dried Psilocybes preparing for a one-way trip to Las Vegas. Remarkably, after they departed I happened to find $750 laying on the ground.
