 DavidReishi I'm just in aw man.... wow!  Wife told me to pick my jaw up off the floor just now...  You seem to have acquired a sixth sense for spotting the Allenii this season, last season I recall you fared well also. You're scores are an inspiration and keeping me motivated (aka driving slowly and pulling over often) all over the SF Bay Area. Yesterday I spent 4 hours roaming around SSF and miles of El Camino Real... only to find 3 withered cyans, nothing even worth posting about...

But it was only upon recognizing the mushrooms' particular pattern of growth at this site that my gf and I began to uncover more copious amounts...and realize that we were, in fact, two souls roaming in the midst of an Allenii World. The foot high mountain of specimens seen in the third-to-last pic represents around a quarter of what we harvested. The pic following it gives an idea of the type of habitat that exists at the site. And the last pic shows a section of the sea of drying mushrooms that is now our kitchen.

Really though kinda speechless as far as this latest Allenii World you roamed into... one patch like that and I wouldn't need to hunt the rest of the season. Bravo on your success this season, :thumbup:lets we get a second flush with all this moisture of recent.

The allenii are definitely still growing, I spotted what could have probably been a quarter pound dry this morning.

David's posts are obvious proof of this as well.

A visit today to two of last season's East Bay finds:

1)

Psilocybe cyanescens. It was pure bliss today to see this patch awakened, as I'd prepared myself for the fact that it wouldn't fruit this year due to its being covered over with new woodchips. If it wasn't for my witnessing so many beautiful robust pins when I arrived, it would've been with horror that I came to notice that it'd already tried to push up a flush. From the look of the three dozen or so that I clipped, the current flush now in its infancy is gunna consist of some real meaty fuckers.

2)

Psilocybe allenii. I was afraid I'd find the same sort of scene here at this large patch about a mile from the previous. But luckily, no, this patch, which is more like a spot comprising four or five separate patches, is really only just now awakening. This is one of my favorite spots from last year as it was a very large producer and a 'high-up' person working at the location gave me the OK to keep doing what I was doing.

NCDaytripper - I know how awful the feeling is of not findin' shit...just keep on truckin' and sooner or later a big fat juicy patch is gunna slap you right in the face. The chances so far this year have never been as good as now, and each day from today they're gunna get better and better.

Hello Everyone, it's inspiring to see everyone's finds, and finally today I had my first Bay Area success while walking around San Frnacisco. It was a small patch, but I saw some pins so maybe there will be more soon.

I'm pretty sure they area P. Allenii.

Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata. 12/21/15. East Bay. New find.

Fuck yeah! Just what I wanted this year...a new ovoid find! And this is a location that I gave up on last year mid-season! This year I told myself I'd hunt the place...and almost just passed it by. "No, I said I would hunt it, so let's go." Payoff! And it was right there as I drove in...saw it from my car!

EDIT:  They smell so different from cyans and allenii...like strong-ass cubensis!

Shite David, I think I walked by some clusters of those a few times in the last several days but still in my noob status, I am not up on them and the stipe through me for a curve ball. Fearing a mis ID galarena I skipped on them. I think I going to have to snap a pic next time and maybe snag one for a print, and see what the consensus is.

My DNA analysis shows that P.ovoideocystidiata is closely related to Psilocybe cubensis.

Good to hear...I've been itchin' to give trippin' another go (a very small dose) and was plannin' to use ovoids if I do.

From the car I guessed they were likely Galerina autumnalis. But when I walked up I knew instantly they were Psilocybes, but was like, "Wow, the first patch that I can't tell whether they're cyans or allenii." Only when I started clipping the damaged ones did I notice the veil remnant and was like, "Wait a minute...ovoids!"

Just found  2 huge flushes of alleni and what looks like a cyan-fib. Over 5 pounds fresh! For some reason though it won't allow me to upload my photos? Says the jpg is too big.

Everyone who has tried the ones I found said they were very pleasant.  I'd say their potency is comparable to cubes, with some really cool visuals and the giggles.

Ovoids and cubenis, that is very interesting. Not in the stuntzii group after all. I wonder where subaeruginascens falls in the family tree; it is known to fruit on manure and woodchips, and I recall reading some speculation that it might be the same as ovoideocystidiata. I'm not sure if that mystery was solved. Anyway, this new information certainly gives me interest in trying ovoids on horse manure and woodchips.  Thanks Alan! Good stuff.

A visit to two more known East Bay spots today:

1)

The infamous downtown cyan spot. WTF is all that comes to mind about this one.

2)

P. ovoideocystidiata. This is the 'greenie' spot found last season. Compare the specimens with my new ovoid find from earlier today...their difference is astounding!
