Galerina marginata in the East Bay.
Looks like a Pholiotina sp., which is also deadly.

Thanks, I suspected that was the case! They're pretty small, I'm more interested in capturing the spores and growing them out in a more ideal medium to see them get larger. Do you think its possible to create a spore print -> syringe from such a small mushroom?
I also edited the above post to include another mushroom I found that doesn't appear to be a psilocybe but shares some similar characteristics

At least that top one looks mature enough for a spore print. The bottom one looks like it's gills might've gotten eaten. Not sure about the ID of the new addition...but you're right, it's no Psilocybe.

I could hardly believe my eyes today when I saw this single allenii pokin' through at my first ever Psilocybe find. The place is a full six weeks behind last year's schedule, and I had almost resigned myself to the idea that it wasn't gunna fruit this year...at least before El Nino. The main portion of the patch still ain't showin' any signs of wanting to fruit, however.
I normally make a point to refrain from using flash, but as it was getting dark outside I had to make an exception.

What kinds of places are you checkin'? Hit up woodchip beds at city hall, libraries, fire stations, hotels, office parks, shopping centers, etc.

Things are finally waking up here in the North Bay. I took a tour this morning and found several spots where the allenii were poppin'.

It's possible to create a syringe but it would be best to clean up the print on agar first as it's unsterile.
Also if you're interested, you can take the stem butts, put them in small inexpensive garden pots with a handful of woodchips, hardwood sawdust, vermiculite, organic soil, water; place in a bright shaded place outdoors, keep it well watered, and voila.
