Well I'm convinced that cyans become allenii, but that's neither here nor there.

Yes I am, twice a day. Thanks. But I still haven't figured out how to turn the thing off without getting my back and the side of my face showered with cold water. Not too fun when it's 48 degrees outside.

4th and 5th generation fruits at the infamous downtown cyan spot this morning. This place is like a micro-PNW. The mushroom at the bottom right I believe is Panaeolus foenisecii.

Precisely? Sf got 8 inches of rain in November 97, then less in December. The heavy rain didn't show up until mid/late Jan and most of feb. Precisely? Far from it. As for my season. Why would you assume that it isn't going well? If you only knew what I have not done in five years.

Volunteers are needed to help staff the psychedelic mushroom booth at the MSSF fungus fair this Sunday!
You'll get free admittance to the fair, saving $10 and the opportunity to teach the public about psychedelic mushrooms!
They'll be asking stuff like how to find them, how to ID them, how to tell them from lookalikes, what are the effects, etc. All different kinds of people, it's always fun!
PM me if you can help out!

Ok, calm down. If you've got a problem with this year's El Nino forecast, take it up with the meteorologists at NOAA's Climate Prediction Center. Here's an email address: Jon.Hoopingarner@noaa.gov.

What you have not done? Um...I'm sure I can guess a few things. Skydive naked? Teach a fetus to read? Embark on a journey around the moon?

Some kind of half-human/half-throbbing-asshole uncovered four patches I had covered up with leaves and sticks to protect from the weather. And what gets me is that the cyans were far from the allenii patches and well hidden...so whoever it was actually searched around for more patches to uncover.

If you're curious, fine! But how about you cover 'em back up when you're finished lookin' at 'em! Have some fuckin' respect! I wish I saw who it was so I could've smashed his fuckin' face in!

I took a walk during my lunch hour today to check on some East Bay locations that have produced cyans in the past. This is a landscaped area, very urban, with irrigation. Not a single sign of any mushrooms. Either they are not popping yet or David got to them before I did. (I was looking for cut stubs but couldn't see any.)
Anyway, when are we going to get some real r a i n. Come on clouds, do your thing!

Hiya-
Longtime lurker with an old account I can't even log into any more - piping up from an n00b's recent experiences hunting...
So sometime around last year it bit me - the Myco bug - and I started boning up on everything I could and set a reminder for October to start looking around. The recent environmental boons (such that they've been, anyway) set me off on a really interesting path that hasn't yielded any actives yet but taught me a ton!
You start to realize that every little bush, every little scraggly patch of grass and dead plant matter, every little island of woodchips and decorative plants - they're all little ecosystems of their own. You start to notice the same bugs hanging out in the same place; you learn about co-indicator species; you pay attention to subtle environmental variables like light, wind, temperature. The fungi *belong* out there for a reason... they're important for reasons apart from consciousness exploration.
At this point I'm getting pretty good at spotting potential mushroom growth spots (it's all about the margins) and ID'ing the most common specimens found around SF. Who knew there was such a shit ton of phalloides?! Or that GG Park had so many other non-active [but nonetheless fascinating] varieties?
Anyway, cheers to the pros in the house. I've learned A LOT from this and the previous SFBA actives threads. Will be at the MSSF Fair this weekend, looking forward to it bigtime. I hope to begin contributing pics of my finds soon as well.

Ok, here's the cyan patch that Shroomery member 'drege' raped last year. It shot up a few pins a week or so ago, and after receiving a watering it's been covered up for more than five days. I wanted to post it...live...before uncovering it, so you all can share in either the elation or the disappointment. I'll be uncovering it momentarily...

Meh... I was hoping for more pins, but oh well. At least what's there is alive.

Another patch of cyans, very close to the last, after uncovering. This one fared a bit better.
