Packing for the trip

I recently heard of the idea of "packing" for the trip - basically preloading your brain with ideas/thoughts etc to take on the trip. I guess the idea is to influence your set, and therefore possibly the trip.
I've seen nature documentaries suggested a lot, but there is quite a lot of violence in those, so I'm not sure that's best for me. I'm considering watching The Fountain again, the whole idea of death/rebirth seems to fit well with ego death.
Anyone else here tried packing? What do you tend to use?

Neil Degrasse Tyson and The Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey to overload the mind with ideas/thoughts.
I try to ritualize my doses, usually setting aside an entire day to prepare, fast and gather supplies such as marijuana, snacks and maybe candles/incense for the trip.

It certainly can have a strong effect. One time I spent the whole day before drawing and designing Mandelbrot fractals. Running through that parameter space hunting for the ultimate mutant of the Mandelbrot figure.
Guess what my visuals looked like that night...

I listen to the psychedelic experience by Leary, Alpert and Metzner. I also usually pray a rosary.

I've done this. Normally I try to elevate my mood and surround myself with nothing that'll become dangerous, or that could look anything like a person. I use LSD though which might be different.
I've always had good results. In the few times I had bad trips, I just curled up into the fetal position and tripped off into eternity and forgot about it.

I close my eyes and think of all things I think my trip will take me through. Especially the negeative thoughts and doubt so I can more easily recognize them when I'm tripping and rid myself of doubt
-------------------- But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow That it's one thing to try and another to fly You get there quicker just a step at a time It's one thing to bark, another to bite The show ain't over till you pack up at night
