Jew's ear? Not sure at all
    #22344243 - 10/07/15 07:37 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Found growing on a fallen silver birch in South East UK. Kind of looks like some pictures of jews ears but unlike other pictures. Any help greatly appreciated:

Different in every way to Auricularia auricula-judae. The first feature being that it is the wrong colour. What you have is Piptoporus betulinus.

Apparently edible when very young and soft. Otherwise people make tea from it which is considered medicinal. Doesn't taste bad!
