Star-gazing on LSD: Music suggestions?
    #22343970 - 10/07/15 03:54 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

A few friends and I are going to be tripping under the stars this weekend. Barely any light pollution either, so we will be seeing the Milky Way and it will undoubtedly be beautiful. The plan is to start tripping 1.5 hours prior to sunrise, so we'll have a good portion of darkness but will spend the majority of the trip in sunlight.

I am making a playlist, and am pretty covered on the sunlight bit. The only issue is finding music for the star-gazing vibe. I'm looking specifically for something spiritual but not overtly religious. For example, I am including some of George Harrison (like 'The Inner Light') and Loreena Mckennitt.

I would appreciate some suggestions of artists similar to the ones mentioned. If you have music in a different genre that you believe would fit the vibe, please include that as well! All contributions are welcome

Thanks in advance for the help!

A spell to free all matter
Folding time and gravity
A universe to shatter
Conjuring black holography

Unraveling the ether
Rending screeching molecules
Severing the elements
Ripping core from core

Sorcery's caustic breath
Fills the void between the spheres
The archetypes are gathering
At the other end of genesis

Ylem
Rise from oblivion
Initiate the grand corrosion
Ylem
Awaken, demand omega
The web constricts around quivering hearts

Spectres swell
From my hands
I feel my mind vibrating
Virulent black odic force
Bleeding into every cell

Ripe with mortality
A breathless world is shaking
A cosmic avalanche is waking
All shall die

Rise from oblivion
Initiate the great corrosion
Awaken, demand omega
The atoms shall remember

Scourge the moribund
Initiate the great corrosion
Consume me, primordial fire
All atoms shall remember thee

Engulf me
Illuminate my flesh
With sacred necrosis

Ylem
I summon thee
From primeval chaos soar
Devour this misguided spacetime
From the earth
From the heavens
From the emptiness rise
Ylem
From the pores of trembling skin
From the depths of every soul come forth
From the darkness at the heart of everything

Unraveling the maelstrom
Bending screaming galaxies
Severing the constellations
Tearing matters shell

Awake Legions ov South
Unleash aeon ov merciless wrath
Be revealed in profane splendor
Lead by leash of old
Uncrowned in mass divide
Flock ov ever dimming light

Kneel before none
Become Grace ov God

[solo: Isfeth]

Ablaze! So long anguish leered
A bastard lie conceived by greed

Succumb to call ov primal aeon
O succumb! Kneel before none!
Be revealed in profane splendor
Lead by leash of old
Uncrowned in mass divide
Flock ov ever dimming light

Alas you consumed baseless lies
Lead by leash ov old
Uncrowned in mass divide
O pathetic, writhing masses
You are all spineless
Scorned and shamed

From thy eyes run tears ov blood
As pages ov untruth are scattered
Line by line you cease to exist
Toward aeon ov natural reign
Scorned as one, you'll writhe in shame
As truth bears no mercy, nor for your kind
For in thee such ceased to exist
Shame eternal

Awake Legions ov South
Unleash aeon ov merciless wrath
Be revealed in profane splendor
Anointed one thy will be done
Euphoric realm ne'er devoid
Free will! Adversary!

O pathetic, writhing masses
Spineless, scorned and shamed
Aloft I have always been
Lead by leash of old
Uncrowned in mass divide
Flock ov ever dimming light
Shame

Tangerine Dream - Rubycon

Blissful and mysterious alien soundscapes, with a human pulse to it all.  Just an excellent album.

(sorry, a bit off-topic) not sure about location or circumstances but maybe you should start a little earlier than 90 min before sunrise? i mean for me acid takes a good 2-3 hours to really kick in, and by then the stars may not be as noticeable depending on sunlight. again I don't know where your at and the stars may still be out, but just adding input. A recent habit my friends and I have is dropping around midnight or so and tripping throughout the night into the sunrise hours. We're on a lake and it's just breathtaking when light starts reflecting off the water in perfect symmetry. Going again this weekend candy flipping for the first time

Excerpt from Tikhal-DMT: "As I exhaled I became terribly afraid, my heart very rapid and strong, palms sweating. A terrible sense of dread and doom filled me -- I knew what was happening, I knew I couldn't stop it, but it was so devastating; I was being destroyed -- all that was familiar, all reference points, all identity -- all viciously shattered in a few seconds. I couldn't even mourn the loss -- there was no one left to do the mourning. Up, up, out, out, eyes closed, I am at the speed of light, expanding, expanding, expanding, faster and faster until I have become so large that I no longer exist -- my speed is so great that everything has come to a stop -- here I gaze upon the entire universe."

LISTEN TO ME. GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT  their genre is space-rock and whenever I listen to them all i can think of is outer space and the universe. Ive listened to them many a trip and I always get put into a really humbled outer space mindset by their tone. a few of their songs are really intense and almost violent sounding though so go through and pic some mellow ones, my fav song of theirs is Coda off of their End of the Beginning album. I do not think you will be dissapointed

Went and listened/watched it on YT, yeh it would be good trippy music but a little on the light side for my liking. Kinda like listening to the intro to Carl Sagan's Cosmos series. If you like that sort of synthesized music have you ever heard of Mike Oldfield? He did Tubular Bells (theme music for The Exorcist) which was a bit cheesy but very easy to listen to, however his other albums such as Hergest Ridge were very good.

My preference though will always be Pink Floyd (Dark Side) and early Moody Blues albums.

Yeah I know Mike Oldfield but never digged much. I used to listen to Pink Floyd over and over again in my stoner days. But only recently started listening to them on psychedelics. I got blown away by "Echoes" on mushrooms. This piece of music has a complete new meaning to me now after this trip. It directed the trip for me. There is this dark part of it which nearly got me bad tripping. But I knew the song already so I knew that if I survive that part, there will be some bliss later on. Truly genial.

Never listened to Moody Blues but definitely on my blues list. I listen to so many genres that it is very hard for me to catch up with all artists.

I think for stargazing maybe two Delerium albums: Karma and Semantic Spaces should do the job? These two are some of my fav tripping albums. I've listened to Karma over and over all day long on some fine acid.

Dead Can Dance can be good, Pink Floyd of course,
As for rather different options,
One From the Vault or Blues for Allah, or any version of Darkstar by the grateful dead have all treated me well while stargazing and tripping. Laying in a 200 acre field on a summer night with my best bud, tripping on lsd for the first time, watching a meteor shower, was what made me begin to love the dead.

Yeah DCD, this time I decided not to mention them as I have recommended them here too many times and I don't want to make an impression of a  obsessed person

Never listened to Moody Blues but definitely on my blues list. I listen to so many genres that it is very hard for me to catch up with all artists.

Hate to break it to you but Mooody Blues has nothing to do with blues music. A long time ago they did one piece of commercial crap that got them known, it was called Knights in White Satin. However this was their only commercial song, the rest were great. For not being a really well known band they were around writing and producing music longer than just about anyone with the exception of the Stones and I suspect they have more albums out than just about any other group. I like their early stuff best but it's all good.
