Fruiting Questions
    #22343749 - 10/07/15 01:03 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Hello everyone! First tub underway and its looking good! Straight coir forgot the Verm but one thing I wasn't expecting was the size with it being KSSS. I was wondering the cons of fruiting it open air to maximize surface area?

I appreciate the responses but I'm not sure that answered the question. I want to remove the lid to let my mushroomss straighten out, other than drying up what am I to worry about?

Yeah tbh i bet if you did open air and misted properly, it'd be way better than in the lid of what looks like a take out container. Keep the surface glistening with no pooling water

Haha yeah management wanted me to throw these away so I'm repurposing lol. Would they be more susceptible to contamination? Started noticing the large droplets sitting on the ground

Those droplets are fine and what you want. You want beads all over the surface. However you don't want it to be dry. Keep it glistening/beaded . Mist when needed

I don't see anything wrong with using the lid as long as you have the holes in both for proper FAE.

I've used some crazy containers/lids for fruiting as well.

But yea, you can fruit in open air as long as you keep it hydrated enough.

May be hard to do unless you have the time to pay alot of attention to it.

It's easier to keep thicker substrates hydrated.
