casing wouldn't take up much more space than fruiting them like cakes.
and you would actualy learn something more than "sticking a needle in a bag".

How small are the mycobags? couldn't you just cut them up into cake sized and shaped peices, and then essentially you'd just have cakes? I've fruited grain cakes before without casing, and the results weren't mind blowing, but fairly acceptable.
