are they edible

have these growing on a 3 year old wood chip pile by a tree line.i put some fertilizer on the pile last  year to try to break it down.  they seem to have little to no smell, very soft like a marshmallow when you rip one, but without the stickiness. would like to know if they are edible

Looks like stump puffballs, Lycoperdon pyriforme. Hard to tell with that picture though without being able to enlarge. If that is what they are and they are white throughout the center then they are edible, but would really need better pictures to be sure on my end.

Yup, those look like it.  Pretty common here in the fall. Have a pretty good texture when fried, I almost prefer them over giant puffball fried, and use the giants for mushroom soup.
