Watch this. The word alchemist is used exactly once in the whole film. Can you spot it?
Love, Hanz.

He got a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. Alchemy is a bunch of magick nonsense.

Shulgin did not discover MDMA, it was first synthesized by Anton Kollich and patented by Merck pharmaceuticals in 1912. Some think that Fritz Haber was the first to synthesize it but this is not true. Fun fact MDMA was synthesized befor LSD. Crazy shit.

My bad I read it as discovered. Im on a heavy dose of kratom so im kind of spacey lol. I meant no offense. Any how yes I believe he has alot to do with the popularity of MDMA and alot of what we know about it today. Not a big fan of MDMA even in its purest form my self but I definitely appreciate and respect it as well as all of Shulgins work on it. MDA is where its at for me but even its not to impressive of a substance in my opinion

I love MDMA. It's by far one of my favorite substances behind LSD. Did you ever see that old documentary called ecstasy rising?

Did any of you see the film I posted above? Called Dirty Pictures, The Creator of MDMA Ecstasy.
A very beautiful documentary about the life and work of Shulgin. Thoughtful, informative, with a nice and quiet pacing. A lot of other famous people appear in it too... I loved it, watched it twice.

Shulgin talked about his chemistry as a forum of art. He was emotionally dedicated to the chemistry and thus he was an alchemist as he could feel the way.
I think this is what he meant.

Yes, and that means that he was perhaps an alchemist in addition to being a modern organic chemist. Not as opposed to, as you seemed to say in your OP:

Moreover, it wasn't Shulgin who used the word alchemist in the movie above.. it was one of the professional chemists working in a high end lab with a ton of equipment and assistants, run by managers, and with a financial and legal department. All super organized in comparison to Shulgin's perhaps more chaotic one-man chemistry cave with the fireplace.
Hanz.

In the short clips in the upcoming documentary MDMA The Movie, I loved listening to Ann Shulgin describing what MDMA felt like to her. She is such a beautiful soul ♡ and she decribes it so perfectly I think.

I am too! It's so fascinating to me the possibilities of how different we all can feel and experience all while doing similar things. And, yes, I can't even imagine how hard it must be for her ; (

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I was googling around for a quote today and I couldn't find it anywhere - although this thread was among the google results on the first page. After reading through the thread, I couldn't help myself but to share this:
Here is a segment from Shulgin's memorial in berkeley. I'm not sure where the video clip originates from, but I haven't seen it anywhere else. He discusses the word alchemy specifically and straight up says that yes, he would consider himself an alchemist. The entire video is a great watch but here is the link for the alchemy part (take out the space in between you and tube, sorry, I couldnt link it or else it would automatically turn the link into a video on this page and it would force it to start from 0:00 for somereason) - www.you tube.com/watch?v=Wp_SarIqjOk&feature=youtu.be&t=1273
the part where bob jesse comes out was also very impacting (take out the space between you and tube again)- www.you tube.com/watch?v=Wp_SarIqjOk&feature=youtu.be&t=1518
safe travels friends. may all your hits be crits and all your loot be epic.

What you think alchemy and black magik are nonsense. Think again my friend just ancient technology the main streams forgotten about or kept purposefully from. Its from the time when matrix manipulation were first dicovered and practiced
