Hey guys I was ripped off my ass on some dank Cookies And I put on The Magical Mystery Tour. What will always amaze me about The Beatles is their timeless sound. It does not sound dated when you really listen to it!
Every song is amazing but I will recommend 2 to check out if you're not into The Beatles, or if you think their sound is dated.
1. Get really high and I check out "Blue Jay Way" from this album. The way they did the sound effects in the intro is absolutely incredible. It sounds like an organ, with some type of effect that makes it sound REALLY trippy. Really the whole song is trippy, I feel like he's talking about being up all night tripping and waiting for his friends to come join him, but they never show up and he just goes to bed after he comes down. lol just my take though.
2. "Baby You're A Rich" man is another amazing timeless sounding piece. Love the intro, with that crazy sounding instrument (clavioline?) and the way they does the vocals. Very simple but very catchy.
If I had never heard any of their songs and then put on an alternative radio station and heard "Baby You're a Rich Man" I would assume it was made recently. This may be because of hipster sounding bands like The Black Keys that go for a vintage sound. But I think it's because they never limited themselves to the sound of their time. They were pioneers of music and sound in general, always pushing the boundaries.
Bonus. Okay so no matter if you're sober, stoned, tripping or whatever, "Tomorrow Never Knows" is like, mindblowing. (Although being on something definitely lets you delve into the layers lol) Easily 20 years ahead of its time. You can literally hear how the song changes and evolves as it plays, and his voice sounds like it ascends through levels, if that makes any sense. Around the 1:30 mark you can hear what I'm talking about. "It is knowing.."
Also the most prog sounding drumming for 1966 lol. Pay attention to the way the drums and bass sound together. Again, mindblowing. it's a 2:59 song that sounds like it's 5:00 lol.
I wish they had made a longer version with like a crazy instrumental or something. Lol it's like "Little Wing" by Jimi, just long enough to be a tease.
-------------------- Ride the spiral to the end, You may just go where no one's been. Spiral out, Keep going.
