Trametes Versicolor, medicinal, edible.

North Florida. Thanks for the quick response!
These are growing on a log that i inoculated with oyster mushroom starter.
Should I just pick them? Any special preparation? How do the taste?
Do they have a common name?

The common name for these are "Turkey Tails" I believe. It is a quite healthy mushroom, the taste is quite non-distinct, and yes, just pluck those suckers right off the log, give them a quick rinse, and prepare a meal or medicine!
Lookin' good too!

Now that I take a closer look the mushrooms in the background of one picture looks as though the mushrooms have gills...
If these mushrooms have gills they are not turkey tails.
Can you get me a better picture of the underside?

The mushrooms in the background seem to be Oysters, which are edible as well.
You said you used an oyster kit?
These are more than likely oysters if you did.

Rather Pleurotus ostreatus. Sorry for the confusion.
I think you might have a mix of two types.
Carefully examine and maybe post more pictures.
Both types are edible though.

Thanks, that will help hugely to get a better ID for you mate.
But like I said from what I read and saw it looks like a mix of the two I stated.
Hope to see more photos soon!

I found this yesterday out tromping around. Is this a Turkey Tail also?

The very last pic of the underside I used the flash. Seems to me I read somewhere that the turkey yail underside was an off white or a tan color and a look alike has a white underside. I'm new to the ID so I'm posting, asking and sharing.

I don't really know how you would eat turkey tails unless you like mushroom jerky ...best off making a tincture if you like for their medicinal value. Try forresters tek ...it is a double extraction and one that I use for chaga and reishi with good results.

This first photo is of the mushrooms on the log in the background in the original post
This photo is of the mushrooms in the foreground in the original post.

There are six or eight oak logs stacked up there that i drilled in some oyster mushroom starter.
There are also 10 or12 oak logs stacked nearby that i drilled in some shiitake plugs and there a 1/2 dozen or more logs that i didn't do anything to and they have some of those mushrooms on them like in the original post. I would like to know how these guys are going to impact the logs i plugged. Thanks!!!

I posted some photos of the undersides in the above post.
Are these indeed Turkey Tails in the foreground?
Are the ones with the gills some type of oyster?

I will double check them this evening and post back. If I remember correctly they are leathery.
Thanks for the help!
