Buy 1/2 pint canning jars, a bag of vermiculite, a bag of perlite, brown rice flour, a pot with a lid and a spore syringe. Look up pf tek and how to build a proper shotgun fruiting chamber. If you do this instead of buying a kit, you'll thank me later.

The DIY kit. A kit is someone buying shit for you and then shit you don't need and selling it to you for twice the cost because you're too lazy to feel like the info in front of you on this website as anything but a hurdle. It's really really easy but some ppl just want to squirt spores in a bag, those ppl usually have shit luck, so good luck

Skip the kit & go buy what you need.

Here's you a good link to a lot of useful other links for beginners. Start from the top and work your way down. Every single link in there is filled with great information.
PF tek and SGFC is the absolute best way for a first timer. Screw a grow kit, they're absolutely horrible compared to doing it yourself.

thanks for all of the help above,
watching films on it and reading threads as above, 3 quick questions, do I actually need a slow cooker, does it really take 3 weeks and what do I use the syringe for I didn't see that bit is there something particular I need to squirt?
thanks for your patience I am a noob so the answer will be on the threads out there (there are so many) but trying to get my head around what you need to inject in the jar and what mushroom will I get....
thanks a lot!

No. You don't need a slow cooker. A pot with a lid is sufficient enough for brf cakes. A spore syringe is what gives you your mushroom culture. You usually squirt a 1/4 cc solution into each hole of each jar for a total of 1 cc per cake. It can take up to 2 weeks just to see growth from spores and can take up to 4-6 weeks to fully colonoze the cake.

im from the UK but it could just be my lack of knowledge but got it now thank you,
So the spore solution? do I just google it or anything specific?
So I have a shopping list for tomorrow,
I have jars, need to get, the bag of vermiculite, the perlite, some brown rice flour, a pot with a lid and a spore syringe,
Am I right in saying that all I need now is the spore solution??
thanks mate

CC is a cubic centimeter. Or the same as one millimeter. You can buy syringes from any of our online sponsors. The syringes are pre-filled with spores from whatever "strain" you have bought, and water. Remember when buying from sponsors, they're for microscopy use only, so don't use sponsor names when referring to cultivation.

The spore syringe is a spore syringe because it has spore solution in it, otherwise it would just be a syringe.

You want any Psilocybe Cubensis spores. Any will do. I started out with Golden Teacher and B+. I really enjoyed growing these. Any form of cubensis spores can use BRF as a medium to grow on. The BRF cake is essentially just an enriched form of medium (substrate) that will allow the myceliuem to grow on.

No problem.
Pf tek & SGFC is pretty easy & a good way to start. Some good videos to watch are http://www.mushroomvideos.com/ Good luck with everything.
