I like the tek, I am going to go have to get some air tight tubs. You cover a lot of details that I used to question as necessary when I was at my peak of cultivation. I used to do tubs the hard way with a liner and using polyfil on every tub.
Its really good to see that people are still on here redefining efficient practices with home mycology.

You can go with this tek for your tubs that still have holes in them to get rid of polyfil. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23651523

That tek uses MP tape, not polyfil.

Although I do appreciate the advice, I honestly don't even have those tubs anymore. I am getting that new new and I am not going to fuck it up with holes.

I grew those tubs in 2009-2011 and then took a long break from cultivation. Mushrooms have been on my brain again though and I would rather produce than purchase. Just getting back in the groove of things feels good.

During colonization do you not put a trashbag over it?

Damn it BOD this easy AF no mod bod trek is so fucking hard WTF.
And BOD yeah you made it so a dummy could understand but what about us aliens?? We apparently speak different languages..
First thing I fucked up was when I mixed the bulk and spawn to get her and put them in the tub. I placed their lid on the correct waY AND LOCKED IT.. FML. Bacterial bloom a week later. Lol
During the spawn run the container doesn’t need to be sealed tight. It was so nasty I threw prolly 4 bins away and a few of my bins after flipping the lid upside down opposite of how it goes in the store they bounced back some still with bacteria but the are flushing right now.
No light on top Started fanning and misting and left the top cracked after it was 70 percent colonized.
THannks BOD. Real talk your the best

ya that would be because your spawn, not because you left the lid on. the standard practice for monotubs for many years was to seal them up before fruiting conditions. people taped up monos tight for years without issues and still do.

LC to quart of spawn takes 3-4 days to colonize if you use the right amount
Can you please tell me how much lc you use at once? Ive been trying different amounts trying to figure this out, and I posted a thread asking how much everyone uses.
When I use a lot, it all pools at the bottom and it always makes me think that its gonna go bad, so I shake it. I dont shake it really hard, I just slowly rotate the jar different ways so the water/lc distributes across a larger area.

No you guys are definitely right I realized the spawn was bacterial but I believe the anerorbic conditions added to the bacterial bloom. But yes the spawn sucked started with sponsor ms syringes and didn't feel as if they were as clean as agar of course. Lhh. But I also increased the time on my 4qt spawn bags to 3 hours and inoculated the new ones with grain. Got some agar going from a few of the first fruits to pop up. But as I said no light and it still worked. Got some new ones going that I started kid upside down and now they 90% and I started with the spraying and fanning. So hoping they do what they should. On a side note bacteria has a very strong order when seal in the tub and the whole room I was using stunk of it until I got rid of them. But harvested quite a bit from the best 3 out of 12 bins. They are a lil funky tho put them in the garage and gonna see if they go again. I flipped them too lol not my surface is flat

Evening, couple of questions!
First of all, thanks again bod, I'm on my final tub (first picture) which is looking pretty good, most of my pins have come from the side which has been happening on all tubs so far, am I right in thinking I may need to try a casing layer next time? Your TEK specifies how thick it should be but should it be made to the same field capacity as the coir which was mixed with the spawn? Would this be part of the 650g brick or would you mix up another batch to use exclusively for it?
Also, one of my earlier tubs which has done a couple of flushes is showing some white stuff which isn't fluffy, its more solid from what I can see - is this good or bad? is it time to dispose? Thanks for reading.
