Okay; I have some jars in my cupboard, def. a bit older from mid june.
These were made from the "Free" syringe I got from a 4 pack; it took forever to colonize; and I'm not even sure if it's any good.
Just let me know.

They look a lil' funky to me.

Alright! I have a cooler busted up waiting to be put into the tub.
Last time I had issues with green-mold - obviously something wrong with the spawn itself; as stated by the others.
Is there any way I can "clean" my area of any potential spread of that before I open up my spawn to the coir? Or is that pointless. I thought I read somewhere that alcohol doesn't kill trich, and such.

Crack it open over your sink put the coir and then give it a few sprays of tap water. Plastic sandwich bag it or put them all in a mono with your preference for fae be it flipped lid poly or micropore tape.

I thought I saw reference to them somewhere in here but cant find it...
Anybody use the similar style ziploc weather shield 60 quart tubs with 6 latches? Do they have the same sort of gap at the latches when the lid is flipped, and if so, have the extra gaps on the ends caused drying issues for you?
Strongly attracted to those because I found them in black as well, so I can have a black tub and swap a clear lid onto it.

I had more issues of my last tub drying out because I left the lamp on the top of the lid; and it dried out the surface of my substrate; thus stopping colonizing.
I'll def. be keeping it far enough away to prevent it from warming up my entire tub.

Never liked the idea of a black tub because I want to be able to see the sides and bottom of sub

Not concerned about that, since I use LEDs. Or overhead light bouncing around a closet.
Just wondering if the extra air holes are going to make it less hands-off. Or if those style tubs end up having the same gap style at all.

Normally I would agree completely.

If that's the tub you want and you find there are too big of gaps, then just leave the lid loose instead of flipping it
Or cover the top with plastic wrap instead of lid

Mmm Maybe even somthing else in there. I had a few weird jars, look identical, figured bacterial so spawn'd them solo to shoe boxes 1:1 ratio and they all went greenish blue within a couple days. I still got one jar I didn't spawn, its been over a month, and its looking fucking strange still but its all white just different shades/texture then regular. Waiting to toss it in a dumpster, I'd be suspect.
I'm spending the day deep cleaning, had a few fruits with bacteria ruining the caps and now all of them end up with this shit on it befor the veil even drops. Got 12 Red boy clones to spawn this week and 6 ape clones so I want to make sure the room as clean as possible for those tubs, probley clean some petris too while I'm at it. I've got some Xupari going to grain & I'm going to re swipe my Pan. Jamaican as well as start some stone producer's this weekend

Could be bacterial... also look similar to how wet but fine jars look sometimes (jars with excess moisture from prep or from using LI)
They do look questionable tho.. still worth spawning

Yeah - I'll do it anyway; not like I have anything but IT itself to lose; and $3 for the choir. Thanks guys.
I'll be ordering new syringes in a week, so we can start fresh.

I am not sure what is going on with this tub as it is my first one ever and I might be a bit to worried. I mixed the tub with 1, 650g brick of coco coir and 6 qts of spawn on 7/8. At that point I put the lid on and clamped it down, I know opps. Zero growth for the next 5 days, it looked like the day I made it.
On 7/13 after seeing nothing I flipped the lid. It has been steadily growing. The sides have some spider webbing and looking ok. The top has started to get the fuzz. I think I want more spider webbing and not fuzz is that correct? Was I in the wrong flipping the lid, should I have just released the clamps and just not flipped? What do you guys think?

The "fuzz "is tomentose, and it's best for colonization, and the "spider web"(would refrain, due to the common contaminant reference of "cobweb"(which in fact is applied to many molds for our purposes) ) is rhizomorphic and better for fruiting purposes... you'll have both in a tub, only time you'd need to differentiate is on agar when doing transfers for isolations

Great thanks for the new terminology, a bit off topic but when making transfers to agar then the best part to be transferring is the rhizomorphic part of the dish?
I take it then having tomentose on the top of my tub is a good thing? I thought this was the start to having matted down white stuff and my understanding was that is not the best to produce pins
