I'm at day 6, things are colonizing nicely, I hope. I was thinking of flipping the lid as it seems to fit well inside the wide range of 50%-90% colonized. I will be gone for a week.
All good to lid flip and go fishing for a week?

Josex said: You can have as much FAE as you want/need with unmodified, from flipping the lid to twisting it so much (if need be) that not even six 1,5" holes without poly could supply nearly as much FAE.
The reason why so many people think holes and poly supply more FAE escapes me or I'm king tard and just won't get it. I honestly find it incredible that most people can't see this reasoning.
Hole placement and the high-tech airflow that some people attribute to holes and poly doesn't hold water no matter how you look at it. Holes and poly allow for easier stacking, but that's about it.
So your saying the holes closer to the surface don't make much difference then am unmodified tub with a lid cocked? Interesting. I kinda just assumed having holes down low would be better for the mushies but what do I know I'm a noob lol!

I may be wrong, but I think convection caused by heat from the light keeps the air in the unbodifieds churning, whilst maintaining maximum humidity without supplementing water content (i.e. misting or bottom watering)

So on the 32q the lid fits nicely when flipped. But the 54q flipped lid doesn't sit well and gaps run the entire lid. I haven't heard mention of this and is it a problem? Do I need to seal it better in order to avoid daily misting on the 54's. I'm not worried about the 32's, the gaps are minimal.

Also, there is no air movement in the room with the tubs, it's bedroom size and no windows are open or foot traffic occuring. Should I crack a window or put a fan somewhere to create some sort of movement in the surrounding air? I do realize variations of this question are here but not quite..
I recall Bodhi saying it doesn't matter but he did have central air going on and off, correct..?

I wouldn't worry about it. I grow in a walk in closet with no air flow and it works just fine.

Thanks for the write up! This helped answer a few questions I had. This might be obvious to most however your method of placing the single bulb fixture on top of the lid made me wonder if you have an issue with heat building up. Since it's unmodified I would assume this applies to the lid as well.

Lighting
The light on the top is a 26W 6500K spiral florescent and provides a minimal amount of heat which aids in convection. Sometimes I use one light like this per tub.
you can use tube fluorescent lights for multiple tubs. There's far more than one correct way to arrive at great results.
I have more tubs than lights I find that using 1000-1500 lumens per tub in lighting works well. With the bulbs being 1-2 feet away.
