Forget about triggers. Mycelium fruits when its ready if its in suitable conditions. Light is fine during colonization, it doesn't cause premature pinning or side pinning.

Maybe im becoming a grump old dude but the word pinning triggers is almost getting irritating because it usually goes along with such overthinking and overcomplicating.

Care, giving a shit, and developed skill are all you need. Follow an established method (experimentation isn't shunned but you should be good at cultivation first before trying to invent a new wheel) do everything with care and integrity don't rush or half ass shit, and you will succeed to the point of surprising yourself

Bigger of the two tub sizes.
This was that crazy Malabar tub. Im going with it was too wet considering the appearance of the fruits and how short they are. Especially the way the stems look and how wet the flesh was when cutting. Next time i spawn the malabar MS spawn ill go really dry and see what happens.

7 or 8 jars of spawn only 1688g wet so probably like 120-140 dry grams is my guess.

Im guessing the second flush will make up for it since it didn't put out on flush one.

Not impressive but pretty photogenic

And some post harvest stumps because stumps don't pose any threats

Does to wet stunt the growth? I'm on my first tub ever and some veils are already opening and they are short. I have no eye for this yest. On the next flush I will try to go dryer and see.

Looks like I've been cutting mine a bit too low after seeing your stump field. So 1/8th of inch of leftover stump is ok to leave on the sub with no concern I assume? I have been trying to get em as level as I can with the sub but would save some headaches if it wasn't necessary to cut so low damaging the layer at times.  :ponder:

How do you "go dryer" these barely require surface maintenance misting.
This tub i just posted got misted 0 times from spawn to fruiting. I did absolutely nothing to it but take pictures.

But yes wet= stunted

I just make sure that they go in the dehydrator already clean. Cleaning off shit from dry shrooms is ridiculous.

By not following directions and misting often. Couldn't help feeling like I needed to do stuff. A rookie mistake. This next flush I will mist very little if any. Got 560gm Tex and 280gm Fiji wet. Not award winning but for my first flush ever I am happy. Short little guys but I'll take it.

Speaking of too wet my 1688 dried up to 125g. So like 92.64% water.

1688*0.0736=125

Lame weight for that tub.

Bod, what are your thoughts on the 80qt variants of these sterilite tubs? Liable to need more tlc and not really necessary for your needs?

How many shoeboxes can you usually fit in those?

Also, do you find it is easier to maintain proper surface conditions with the mono, rather than simply putting the lid on the shoebox? If not, what benefits do you think the mono has over a regular shoebox setup?

imo they are the exact same thing. just different proportions. mushrooms do not know about tub size anyway:scaryshroom:
check out the making shoeboxes thread for all your answers(related to shoeboxes) stay here for unmoddified monos.

80qt sterlites holds 3 6qt shoeboxes perfectly.

Yea What I meant was do you think putting your shoeboxes inside of one of these monos is easier than just fruiting the shoebox with its lid snapped on? Whats the reason you choose to fruit your shoeboxes in a mono rather than just with their lids?
