A shoebox requires far more monitoring and more work than a monotub, the surface can dry out if neglected. A bigger sub pretty much maintains itself.

I find both to be pretty much almost no work. Especially using grocey bags to dub tub the shoeboxes

Damn im so stumped on this then. I cant for the life of me figure out why my shoeboxes require so much misting. After full colonization there were never natural beads of moisture unless i misted, and in order to maintain the beads i needed to mist 2-3 times a day. Would you recommend more water for this substrate recipe? Maybe thats my problem?
650 grams coir, 2 quarts vermiculite, 1 cup gypsum, 4 quarts water.

Maybe I prep my coir wet but it’s never that hard to squeeze some drops out... never had an issue yet.

Should i try adding like another half quart or full quart of water to the recipe you think? After full colonization there should be natural beads of moisture without needing to constantly mist right? Because my tubs have never had that and always require regular misting.

Nice. Here's a pe6 culture that does weird stuff. Sometimes a blob or two. Sometimes pe looking fruits, sometimes normal looking ones with PE like stems.

The same culture made this one in a shoebox first flush

Bueno. I need to try some sort of PE. Been wanting to try my Hand at it. The tubs above are all from a purple mystic print.

I forgot about it on a shelf so FC were introduced way later than normal and fruited 8 days longer than my regular tubs.

Noticed a little yellowing in a certain spots. Mainly in the corners, wondering if this is caused from too little or too much misting.
Nonetheless both are showing small knots.

I used one brick of coir and one gallon of water. I flipped the lid after about 80% but im seeing some water pooling on the sides. Anything i can do about this? temp of the room, etc?

That's water from condensation that builds up on the lid and sides and drips down the sides when you take the lid off or move it.
A little tiny pooling on the sides ain't gonna hurt anything but if it bothers much you can mop it up with a dry paper towel (no need to touch the myc) and also wipe the lid every now and then so it won't happen again.

Cool, how many monotubs do you stack? And im guessing the tub on the top would be the tub that is in fruiting conditions, am i right? Will the tubs below the top one get any light? Thanks!

So I spawned my second 32q tub 20 days ago. Flipped the lid around 80% colonization five days after spawning. No pins yet. Just wanted a little feed back on how it looks? Haven't misted at all, lid off only for pictures.

The reason I ask is because the next few pictures are of my first 32q tub that I spawned 7 days earlier so 27 days ago. As you can see it's a pretty sad sight
Basically did the same thing as i did with the tub above, flipped the lid around 80% but misted 3 times or so before pins and once right when I saw pins. Pins showed up 6 days ago. Just put the lid back flipped and had to split to work and this is what I came home to today..

First tub went MS>two transfers on agar>oats>325g Coir + 2Q spawn
Second tub went MS>three transfers on agar>oats>325g Coir + 3Q spawn
Would one extra transfer on agar make a difference in strength or health of myc in the second tub? Anything I can do with the first tub to help it out?
Any pointers for this first rodeo would be much appreciated...

practice makes perfect
you don't know how your culture on agar does till you test it out.
PE6 clone

Here's how the clone did in shoeboxes

Here's the one i cloned
Nearly sporeless classic look pe stem
And some of the other MS tubs I started with

I'm about to spawn my first unmodified tub but when bucket teching my coir in my cooler it seemed like my temp was a bit lower then last time, hovered around 170ish, I think its fine but starting to second gess myself. Any opinions? Should I remake it? Or stick to the plan and get this thing rolling?
