Not sealed up 3/4th flush fruits

The first three pictures came off of a sub tossed in the trash. They grew out of the top of a trash can. In basically open air.

You'll get big fruits in your late flushes sealed up or not.

Clears that up! Remarkable trash fruit lol

Bod, do you introduce direct lighting with your lamps at the same time you flip the lids or “introduce fruiting conditions”? Or do you wait for pins and then introduce lighting? I’ve got two unmodified shoeboxes that I just flipped the lids on and out lighting on a 12/12hr timer. I’m gonna spawn a 32qt unmodified tub here soon too so I wanna make sure I got that right.

Just loaded up my first tub. Thanks to everyone for helping me get this far.

Do I need to mist with water during the colonisation phase (before the lid is flipped)?

Thanks

Was hoping for some advice on my first tub, it started to pin last week but the growth is really slow and the fruits are very fat which I'm not sure is right.

They started to pin 6 days ago.

This is my very first tub I tried with some spare jars I had spare from an agar to grain pp, it's quite possible I fucked up the water coir ratio.

I mist once or twice today as per it's needs

Does it need more water? If so what is the preferred method ?

Hi Bodhisatta,

Currently i'm working my way through this thread from a/z (page 15 now.) and am sucking this all up like a mutha.. I'll be starting my second grow and will adopt this tek as I feel this suits my style way better than building Mush-growing-time-machines

One question tho, i've got practically unlimited access to hpoo and organic rye. So Id love to stay with those. Any thoughts on using the unmodded tubs your style but use just colonized rye added to (pasteurized) hpoo  instead to the coco coir?

I figure for water content hpoo should not be much different to the coir?
Would going with the hpoo using your unmodded tub tek require gypsom?

One love
Monk

your substrate should already be made with enough moisture to get through most if not all the first flush
most leave it closed up during colonization, or crack the lid. the lids arent perfect anyway.

once you have a good coverage all over the tub, you can give more air
then after pins start to grow, open up and mist as often as needed. pretty simple. yours looks like they may be a little too wet i think, from my earlier tubs. I had a casing layer of vermiculite that i over misted. is there any standing water in the cornbers when you tilt the tub?

also, genetics could be an issue, along with any contaminates that may have already grown through the colony.
yours looks pretty clean, and i see side pins. it may be you just have a few early fruits that are large, there are more on the way. that happens unless its an agar clone.

Thanks! I've left it since and held back spraying and this is what I have a few days later:

There is side pins but hey what are you going to do.

I went from ss -> agar -> agar -> agar -> grain jar -> tub on this tub.

There was pooling of tub juice at one point that came from the sides of the tub I think, but they have now gone or as the sub has come away from the tub and its now going to the bottom.

Original plan was to use bod's harvest tek but with a lack of full pin set I'll just cut out the ones that are mature and with coir:water screw up I probably don't need to bottom feed them before the next flush?

Thanks again everyone and bod for all the threads/advice.

So what was the conclusion you arrived at with this first flush? Were you over misting or?

I think I fucked up the water coir mix at the start and over misting when pins were showing

and backing off the misting kind of saved the situation at that point? I'm just at the pinning stage with mine right now. Kind of paranoid on over/under misting.

Looks that way to me, I've cracked the lid today as it looks like I'll be picking some in the next 24 hours

I mixed oat spawn with coir for this tub just 72 hours ago, here's the colonisation so far  (first grow)

should I flip the lid?

here's another tub with another MS culture, it's colonising more slowly due to the light being further away (taller tub)

Flip when you want. It's not my tub to make that decision.
Light doesn't speed or slow the colonization. At least to any noticable degree.
