Your tub can and will trich out from leaving the lid completely closed

Why do you say that? Maybe if you clamp the handles down. But still people used to put monotubs into black trash bags and tape them shut for 14 days. And that worked just fine until it was realized how useless that was.

When i tried unmodded 66 quart/liter? tub initially i got trich and everything stalled out. I had the lid on right side up with clamps on. Id say my spawn was as bacterial as usual mo more no less.
This tub design has a better seal than typical monos right?
I asked a TC (eat) and he said lack of airflow will lead to trich. My observations with shoeboxes and open air fruiting leads me to believe more air is better.
Some users in the shoebox thread have had multiple Wall to wall flushes with very bactetial spawn that seems to have resisted trich and my belief is constant fresh air helped keep the trich at bay. I could be wrong .
I really like fruiting conditions from spawn especially if your culture is not 100% clean.

It looked ok and smelled ok, but was still contaminated. Oh well. Thanks.

Bean try it again in open air with yhe lid flipped upside down or off to the side like bod has in the op. I think you will have success with bactetial spawn with MORE air.
Thats my $.02

And i agree. "Colonization conditions" can make unclean spawn even more detrimental.

Here is an update on my tubs! Check out the straw tubs, notice the blue coloring . One has a very noticeable color change and the other just slight change. I moved the tubs from my room to my roommates room with a/c about a week ago when I first noticed the color. I believe my room got way to hot during the day and may have caused the bruising? It does not smell bad or at least I can not detect anything beyond that good mushroom smell. The color did die down a bit after making the change in rooms. The mycelium seemed to regain its strong looking white color but whenever I mist the blue shade becomes a little deeper. First time using this tek and I am new to mycology in general. let me know your thoughts. I did a lot of research and will continue to do more, I am open to all ideas. Thank you.

haha that is pretty wild.. kinda reminds me of some of the surface bruising I've been getting in my shoeboxes. For some reason this Costa Rican I've been using tends to bruise like a mofo

Update
First harvest off the least bruised straw tub. Golden teachers MS inoculation, WBS grain, and pasteurized straw. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and advice. More grows to come and I am starting agar work.

What is your fruiting temperature bod? Mine is at about 70. Things seem to be going slow over past few days should I raise it?

Hmm, can the 1st flush typically be smaller? There was excellent knotting and a few pins started to show so I figured it was fruiting time. But ended up getting side pins even though I packed it in around the edges. And now there's just a few fruits on top did the top dry out too much somehow?

Leave the lid upside down and not ajar if its drying fast in your environment
