Niceneasy I've completed one smaller monotub grow (<32qt w hpoo/verm/gypsum) spawned w pf jars from my first attempt at mycocultivation. I was (very) pleased with first flush, (2z+ dry) I think my surface was uneven, (I did make it fairly even, but thinking it should be extremely even) many clusters but nothing you could describe as a canopy, Ive read a few more teks now, and my surfaces will be extremely even in the future. This single flush is all I expect now as the substrate shows no new activity, 10 days or so now. (I see no obvious contam, been at same temp n humidity, imagine it should be buried now, advice?) I have 5 more tubs almost fully colonized, but same method and uneven surface as the first, was in a hurry to get rid of my cakes, and 'flushed' with the early success in my first tub. I am striving for better results, and have several strong/clean third gen transfer plates, my grain jars have been prepped and are sterilizing now, later today I'll do the agar wedge inoculation. Dropping my HPVG for this coir sub, I mean why bother BOD, I'm striving for some canopies on these next tubs that are closer in appearance to those you have shown. Thanks to all for the info posted on Shroomery, without it I'd still only be cultivating,, err, annuals. Best wishes all!

I tubbed 2 last night.
Mixed 1200g coir exo terra plantation soil 600g manure Bout 10 quarts boiling water dumped into roaster on the two bricks plus manure Let it cool a bit and mashed it alll up Pasteurised for 90m at 150 Cooled it to about 35
Split the 1800g 2:1 coir manure into two tubs 5 quart jars each
So 600/300g coir:manure to 5q water
I think i'm developing a new tek here kind of. Once everything is worked out, I'm going to have to write up a full tek of my own.
Couple weeks from now if all goes well, i'll have mastered a complete tek that anyone can use to run two unmodified tubs at a time straight from oats to pc to tu jars to tubs etc..
Pretty excited to show what i've done with this. It's getting really badass.

So tried soaking the coir/verm in the actual monos and skipped the bucket. Only problem i can really see is they do not retain heat tjat well. Even with the clips shut on the lid. At 2.5 hours the temp is at 109 F. I would expect with a insulated cooler it would be much higher for much longer. Live and learn i suppose

You could also put it in another tub and wrap in a sleeping bag.

Fine idea but if i have to go to that much trouble i will just put it in the cooler. Just wanted to give it a run and see if it worked.

I should be doing this for the first time tonight or tomorrow. I'll know when I get home and see how much spawn I have ready.

So I started my first tub following this tek (and the rest of Bodhisatta's teks). The tub is pinning now. I was wondering what do you use to spray your tubs with? A special mister, or a regular sprayer? I use a regular sprayer but it seems to bruise the substrate afterwards.
Here is a picture of what it looks like now
