i thought that might be the case, but i was being overcautious, also figured while the lids are cracked, it puts a pseudo barrier above each tub to prevent stuff falling in from above (shelves having gridgaps and all)

How's this looking?

Welp, I'm having great luck with my tub so far. My coco-peat ended up being on the moister side when all was said and done, so I wedged the inside part of a jar lid under one side of the tub lid but left the lid normal side up, just to give it a slight bit of drying and breathing room. Looks a tiny bit heavy on the moisture but nothing extreme, and the surface is looking fantastic, about %35 done so far.

I dunno what happened with the coco-peat using RR's tek's, but the truth is I always had bad bacteria problems using trays, foil, and casing, yet never had any evidence of it in my jars at all (my rye jars stay on the dry side.) I've been able to beat out bacterial substrates with immense success, but it was annoying. The new tub however is looking pristine.

Only thing now is knowing when to fruit it . I seem to have an immense knack at everything shroomies but my one flaw is knowing when to fruit. I'm hoping I can simply use the tub's moisture as a gauge, giving it slight bits more of air the more condensation there is (as there will be more and more with each day the mycelium grows) making it a steady increase rather than a massive infux (which would seem to make sense as I'd think pins would need much denser RH than full mushrooms, mimicking morning fog as opposed to daylight afternoon). But I guess we'll see!

I keep reading "clean spawn" Define clean spawn. In other words it's either clean or it's contaminated. Is that right?

i quite stupidly just went assuming the bricks were all properly 650g like the package says, but it's likely that each brick is slightly off..

OP from Bod-----

3 x 650g bricks, try to find nice uniform ones, it's a VERY GOOD idea to weigh them first to make sure they're actually 650g. these things are made with little to no quality control so...

So here it is fruited almost ready to harvest. Just seems like they're too small.

Do you think upping the spawn would help with that?

I used 1 quart grain spawned to 2 quart wormcasting coir verm gypsum mixture.

Came from MS.

I feel the spawn to substrate ratio is fine, in my opinion - others may feel otherwise; however, it does not seem like you are using enough material, overall, for that size container.

What would you say the depth of the spawn/substrate is?  It looks, to me, around a couple inches.

Nonetheless, stay with the spawn to substrate ratio you used, but work with more material at that ratio - I say, a four inch depth would be dandy as cotton candy, but again, that is my opinion.

Been leaving this alone mostly, and fully uncovering while home and misting lightly every half hour or so to keep it nice..
then i give it a pretty decent misting and flip the lid back when i leave the house or go to sleep.

Bplus, getting along..

Hey all,

I jumped in on this tek. I just put these to fruiting and was wondering what your opinions are as far as do they need more misting based off the photos. Opinions are appreciated.

thx-

I would keep a close eye on that bottom tub, some suspect spots in the bottom left corner.

I've read about that yellowish coloring mycelium piss I think is what they call it. lol

Does the moisture look ok or should I hit it with a few mistings?

when i get little yellow drops, i just tip the tub on it's side so it pools up against the edge, then suck it up with the edge of a paper towel.

finer misting, less mist each time, do it a lot more BY THAT i mean only as often as required, those have helped me with the surface moisture content, which i know i can still improve on a lot.
