First attempt with sterilized bucket tek preheated cooler style no poly no casing no liner
after pasteurizing in jars for 3 years lol probably not going back was a little nervous cause i worked hard on this project to get these ape clones ready
Since my tubs already have holes i just moved the tape down half the width of the 1 1/2 in hole, this worked on a previous grow
also these are the 72qt sterilite so with one brick growit brand weighed 575 or 585 and i think 4 or 4 1/2 water only gave me like 2 inch substrate
still dont think its enough 'passive' air exchange
thinkin about poking holes in press'n'seal since my lids are opaque
my best results with ape, im gonna give most credit to the culture as i have other ape clones with same conditions not performing this good, but still better than any of my other ape attempts, i think the casing fuckes em up
heres some huge stones carved my something looks like a long time ago

Not Pan cyan per se but they're still somewhat the same (growing condition wise), i posted it a while ago here.

That's not an Unmodified tub! Disqualified! Lol
Flip the lid or rotate 45-90 degrees next time. Holes and tape aren't. Needed.

So, Mynakedrat popped in on my PE grow and preached the praises of the almighty unbodified tub. I like easy, so I gave it a shot. Plus, Bod seems to always give out good info, so, why not.
Have a B+ tub (print > agar and after multiple transfers > rye > CVG) that's on day 11 as of today (pictures below). Last night, did another B+ tub that's just CV using the next generation of agar isolates, also unbodified.

That's a smooth surface sir, very uniform. You can rotate the lid while you are home to help induce pinning. Mist as needed. Glad you have it a shot!

Do we need direct light in to trigger fruiting (shown in first post of this topic) or indirect room light is fine?

Thanks! My PE tub surface aggravates me, being so uneven, so I've been trying to make sure I'm more diligent. Been doing that exactly, just making sure there's dew droplets on the surface.
If it works like it seems to for everyone else, I'm all in. Way easier than having to worry about cutting holes and putting in poly.

Light isnt a pinning trigger its the evaporation of the moisture on the surface light helps with growth

Light is a pinning trigger. Not a main one Using inadequate light makes for straggly shrooms

Yellow spots are occurring on the sides of the substrate, based from research, it said the sub is drying out, so i misted it.
Right now the lid is flipped upside down, i fan only one time a day, also only using direct room light 12/12 (i dont have dedicated bulb/light yet for sub alone).
No pins yet, any insights?

Slightly bacterial spawn or over field capacity is when I see those finger like projections of mycelium.
but it's fine give it time.

Got jars running now, will be happy to get both my 66q going. Again! They are lonely with nothing inside them.

Damn. This is legit. I can't believe I haven't seen this before and it's from 2015! I went straight in to mono's. Well, I'm DONE with mono's. GOOD SHIT! I took a break for about 6 months, but hopefully with the use of this, I'll be crushin it in NO time. Considering the time saved with this, I'll probably just get after it with agar work and isolating, then colonize a shit ton of jars, then just get multiple tubs going and get my stack on lol. I'm super excited that I found this.

Thanks for this tek, Bod.
Shit works like a charm.... adapted your bucket tek for coir prep and used a 5 gallon bucket, then sat it on top of a folded beach towel and zipped my winter jacket over top of it. kept things quite warm overnight.
This was my first bulk grow, second grow overall... did the pf tek once and will never go back. perlite is a pain in the poopchute.
Spawned 5 qts of WBS spawn to 1 brick of coir in a 52 gallon tub. 2 different strains from two MS syringes. can't recall which ones. First flush > 150 grams dreid Second Flush ~ 80 grams, dried Third looking good so far. possibly another 50 grams.
I had some issues dialing it in at first, some verticillium problems were noticed early in the pinning stage, but just turning the lid slightly seemed to hold it at bay. (or at least that's what i'm telling myself after reading about verticillium for a few nights).
