I read a lot of information before i even started and decided to go the "unmodified mono" way.
spawned to bulk on 11/04/2020 used fully colonized rye grain and CocoCoir-verm mix at Field Capacity (Grain/Bulk ratio about 1/5)
lid upside down from beginning, lightning (6300k, 12/12) after 5 Days.
Roomtemp is about 18-20°C (its cold here, and kinda difficult for me to archieve ~23°C all day)
my setup in pictures:
(Ignore the 24,6°C, thats from my other GrainSpawn)
this is how it looked on 16/04/2020

and this today 25/04/2020

seems to be pretty slow progress... is that due to the mix ratio? does that look right? how bout surface conditions? and can i mist directly onto the surface if needed or better just the sides of the tub?
It looks good and on track. Yes you can and should mist the surface if it’s dry. Don’t actually spray it directly though, spray out and over the surface from a few feet up so it gently rains down.
Use a flashlight on your phone or something and see if there’s any water beads on the myc. If there’s nothing in a couple days I’d very very lightly mist it.
You want something similar to this, but keep in mind this is a close up shot they’re actually so small it’s hard to tell in person without a light.

A nice time using this "set and forget" tek Here's my first monotub while working out a few varieties on agar. 5Q WBS spawned to one 650g brick of coir. They're a few days overdue, I had many bloom while away for a bit. Could the rear be fruiting poorly due to extra heat from the nearby CFL?

Has anyone used the 80 qt gasket tubs do they work as good as the 54 or is more misting or fanning required also how many jars of spawn and how much coco for the 80qt tubs can anyone help I cant get the 54 qt tubs only the 32 and 80s and I would prefer to use bigger if it works just as well

Don't mist while its colonizing.
If it's drying too fast with lid flipped then set it on stock. You can also remove the gasket it serves no purpose. I hang my gaskets up off to the side to replace when I store the tub as a tub. That allows GE and prevents drying til colonized.

What exactly is the ratio of grain spawn to substrate in Bods unmodified tub tek?
I have been looking and haven't found a solid answer. My most educated guess is as follows:
I am using a 24 quart tub 2 quart grain jars half brick coco coir (325 grams)
Is that correct?

For 54 qt its 7 jars spawn 650 grams coco so if your doing about half I would use 3.5 jars and 325 grams coco or 3 jars with 280 grams coco

That could be right. I use about 4-5 for 650g in the 54. Sometimes I use 2-3×325g coir split between two tubs if I'm compelled.

The thing with huge monotubs is if there's a contam, you wasted alot of time and materials. Stick with multiple smaller tubs if that's what you can only find.

Fun fact if you're stacking these tubs with lids not flipped, just know you will suffocate the colonizing Mycelium with lack of GE. Learn from my mistake

I suspect 32qt tubs will be more efficient. You can use basic arithmetic to calculate the volume of a cuboid to get an idea of sub depth. If you know the dimensions of the tub. I think bod/damos coir makes ten quart of sub.

Lightly mist that surface and give fae. Or how long have you been giving fae? Which variety you got there?

Hey everyone,
It's my first time attempting to grow. I'm following bhod's entire tek and I can't seem to get past the agar inoculation phase. I don't have enough posts to ask the contamination subforum-- hopefully someone can help here.
I've been attempting ms syringe to agar, and probably have burned through 60 plates trying to get even one to grow. Out of those 60 plates, I've had no contamination on any plate other than where syringe solution was spread with a loop. I've tried a single drop in the center followed by a zigzag with the loop, which produced a lot of yellow and milky white bacteria, likely due to excess liquid from the syringe.
I've since applied a single drop of liquid to the loop directly and zigzagged ten more plates, which cut back entirely on unnecessary liquid on the agar, but still seems to have produced glossy white dots that I can only imagine is some kind of bacteria as well (pictures attached). For each method, I flamed the loop and syringe needle red hot.
It's hard to see from the photos' color balances, but the dots are much whiter than the images I've seen floating around here, but the glossiness makes me believe I once again have bacterial contamination. It's been two or three days since these plates were inoculated and the dots have remained the same size.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong or can improve on?
