Ya see i always used opaque tubs with traditional poly holes and a square just big enough the tape down a large ziplock bag as a window so i never spent time misting or checking during the firat 10-12 days. Id let em roll and when it came time to check theyd be 100% no doubt.
With these, daily surface checking and misting etc had my wires crossed. Feels so unordinary compared to the other method ive used countless times lol.
Knots on the 10th day could be the fastest ive seen it.. and tbh before you replied with your overly confident and satisfying response i was sitting here thinking "well better knots too soon than not at all" lol

First time going for monotube, with only Cakes experience so far.
I came across 21L boxes WxLxH: 51x39x17 cm, with clamps, proper FEA after cover reversal etc. They seems perfect for my storing area, as it looks like I might store them in 2 rows, 3 columns.
My worry though is the height of the box. Wouldn't it be to short? If not, how thick layer do You recommend to fill those boxes with?
Planning to go with McKennaii, Golden Teacher and Taman Negara.

If it’s short enough, like a shoebox or underbed tub, you don’t need holes or tape. Just leave the lid on or maybe crack it open a little.

I figured that out That's the point of this whole TEK. How high should I fill mix of grain & coir. 3, 4, 5cm?

First time using this tech but I have previous experience with cubes using modified monos and trays inside a SGFC. On 3/5 I spawned 1x 650g brick of coir with 4 quarts of rye berries, split between 2x 20qt gasket lid tubs. I reserved a little of the cooked coir and used it for a 1/4" pseudo casing over the top. They're both PE from a MS syringe. I prepared the coir using Bod's cooler tek and spawned to the bins exactly as this unmodified tub tek says and video shows to. I put the lids on but didn't clamp them. Today I peaked inside and saw some myc starting to poke through the casing layer in both tubs. But at the same time I could see both bins have a very very thin amount of cobweb mold on most of the casing surface. Both bins are easily 70% colonized and moving along quickly. I'm not the type to try and salvage a contaminated bin so should I just dump it and start over or let it go and see what happens? The cobweb layer is so thin and faint I literally can't get a picture of it. Thoughts?

Hi guys,
My first grow.
I’ve followed this tek to a t, and this morning I noticed tiny green specks on the surface, it can't been seen in the picture.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

It’s hard to tell from the pic but a lot of the myc in the center looks sketchy, if you see green it’s probably a goner.
Definitely from the spawn.
Also adding a top layer of coir after you mix the spawn in helps protect the exposed grains and maintain surface conditions.

Thank you for your reply.
I will keep it and se how it goes, extreme dry climate here so I have to mist a lot, the surface dries out quick.
Should I add a layer of coir on top of it?
Thanks

No don’t add coir to this one, no point if it’s got mold.
I’ve got around 16% humidity in my room myself and I had serious problems when I was first starting until I tried adding a top layer of coir when I spawned tubs. It makes a huge difference especially when you’re just starting out.

Thank you, I've been in the background for a while reading and learning, but I ran in to problems now so I had to ask the pro's

Hey guys
So I spawned to bulk 6 days ago (print-Agar-transfer*2-Agar to oats-G2G and finally I had 7qt oats that I mixed with 1 brick of coir) and this particular tub has been standing on the floor with another tub on top of it since. I had a look at it today and the myc in the corners look different from other parts. Could this be that the tub on top had pressed down on the middle of the lid and thereby restricting the FAE just there but allowing it for the corners? Or is this a normal growing pattern?

Any suggestions?
Cheers

Might just be the sub was thinner on the corners (or you had a higher ratio of spawn there) and colonized faster-- maybe could be temp related too.
Others may have superior advice-- but it looks like a good project to me
Per bod below, I have bad advice!

I’ve been seeing that more lately it seems like.
It’s definitely air related, maybe start rotating which tubs on top every couple days.

Is anybody misting the surface after the first 3-4 days of colonization due to too much fae or just closing it up for a while
