Yes the sides are more compacted. The surface being leveled isn't compacting it at all
Gotcha! Thanks for the quick reply. I'll take notes when mixing future tubs and try dialing this in. I appreciate your help!

sporealchemy said: Anyone having issues these days with the gasket tubs in regard to either the production quality or how they are distributed? I can only find warped tubs and/or lids where the long sides along the upper rim are bowed out. The FAE is uneven because of this and it can cause dry spots. I feel like sterlite is saving money somewhere in the production line and skimping on quality or they are being stacked really high causing them to warp.
so I'm finally dialing in my tubs to my house/room conditions. in regards to the lid design/quality/air gaps changing, I'm not sure if this plastic piece is on the original design but it seems to keep the flipped lid too elevated and with too large of a gap all the way around to retain moisture:

so instead I pulled out the gasket and set the lid gently on top right side up to mimic the 4 FAE spaces around the clip areas outlined in bod's OP. I did three tubs, one no casing, no gasket, lid right side up, one cased at spawn, lid flipped, one cased at spawn, no gasket, lid right side up. last option seems to be working great for my set up. these B+ were spawned 3 days after the other 2 tubs and have almost a full pinset while the others are still dicking around:

once the pins are a bit larger I'll flip the lid for even more FAE. thanks again to bod, and CBK for that perfect surface conditions thread.

Bodhisatta,
I've read the thread, but I'm still unclear. In your OP, you say to leave the lid upside down when you're not home. But what do you do with the lid when you are home? Do you put it on normally, but leave it unlatched?
Other posters say that they leave the lid upside down continuously. So, do you keep the lid on upside continuously? Please advise.
Thanks,
Tom

Thanks for all your great TEKs Bod. You've made it a lot easier for a noob like myself to get started on the right foot.
I also appreciate that you keep reiterating, and encouraging people to think for themselves, I believe that is critically important, but alas, common sense ain't so common nowadays. Cheers!

Second unbodified tub for me, question on surface moisture: I notice that the center seems great, beads of water and all, but the corners are dry on top.
Should I leave it be, or even go back to flipping the lid back to right-side up? I had tried spraying the drier edges for my first tub, but I feel it didn't help - sprayed spots looked more matted down eventually
Thanks for any suggestions, loving unbodified tubs so far! Tried finding an answer online, for what to do when you've got dry and wet spots, but wanted to double-check before I start misting this one

Ha hope you're not kidding. Haven't fretted about it much, but I had just assumed it wasn't a great sign - like, that the myc is reaching out because it's missing something

its the genetics going around. It overlays the top layer and starts climbing the plastic. I thought my tub was fucked the first time I grew it. Then it ended of giving me the best yields of anything I have.

Looks uber wet imo
Dont be anal about surface moisture: ESPECIALLY after pinset... shouldn't be an issue up to that point: long story short, misting is rarely necessary before harvest in an unmodified tub...
Overlay isn't a thing for cubensis: matting from overmisting though? Pins will push through in either event, and though you may have fewer fruit. They'll grow larger and typically make up the difference in yield in numbers with size

Yeah the first pic in my signature was maz. Everybody told me it was bacterial and I should probably toss it then it turned into a canopy.
It also ran a quart of wbs from syringe to 100 in like 9 days.

That sub is bacterial af and likely stress fruited JUST before turning green... it was fast because it was running: like you said

I'm trying to figure out how you came to that conclusion?
Not debating it just curious how you know? Why do you think it's going green?

The sticky looking long fingers all over the side, its reaching for a clean food source... it looks snotty/ slimy: its bacterial... likely had a coating of almost jelly on the bottom? Bacterial metabolites... its gross really lol

It wasnt horrible because it fruited: being on the dry side may have saved you... did it 2nd flush?
Bacteria is EVERYWHERE... only thing you can do is maintain hospitable conditions for cubensis while limiting them for bacteria (cooler and drier)

Right, I've read as much, that properly dialed-in sub shouldn't need any misting before first flush, at least
Would you think to increase airflow then? I know I could just take it easy and leave it be, but just curious what you might do differently, if anything

This is how my maz started out.

Not saying it wasn’t bacterial or whatever but it went 6 or 7 flushes
It kinda looked like it dried out and died then fresh myc popped up and then pins
 It was real weird.
