They’re great because you can modify the amount you want to pull it back too and put as many or as little holes in it you want..
Here’s a shot of the pin holes

Here’s one showing how easy it is to pull back if you want to

Hey guys! I recently ordered some ziploc 60 qt tubs. I didnt know beforehand but they are about 10% wider than a normal 60 quart tub. To compensate for its width, its also shorter (both in length and height). I'm assuming that this tek will still work regarding proper air exchange, but I'm checking to make sure.

Just making sure I am not missing or misread something about the tek. But during colonization (right after mixing spawn with substrate), do you leave the lid fliped upside down or do you put the lid on normally? Is the lid always upside down from colonization to fruiting?

Hey guys Just started my first ever mono tub thanks to this tek and all of the comments I did spore print > Agar > oats and spawned to bulk yesterday, 5 quarts (2/3 full) and one brick of coir so excited!!
I have one question though, yesterday I bought a 6500 k LED bulb (1055 lm, 10,5 W). I mean this is a BRIGHT light, could anyone (Bod?) please confirm that this is not too much light for my little friends in the tub?
Great TEK and great tips in the comment section
Thanks in advance!

so, the spawn was indeed bad, so the "proper one" never came to be and as I've posted before, the "experimental" one was doomed from the start with this bad spawn plus the unnecessary additions, and as I expected, became a race against trich in the end. it yielded 87g dry from 900g spawn on its only flush. add in the ~130g of "extras" that I put in and it is not a very good BE. It was also not very photogenic, the side fruits definitely saved the yield here. In the mean time though, I learned a lot, cleaned up my GT on agar, made an LC and just inoculated oats with it.
I also spawned this bad boy today:

I followed all the steps of this tek and have a question in regards to misting and FAE.
I spawned another tub with poly fill holes, it's been 3 days and the tub with poly fill holes already shows signs of condensed walls. The other tub doesn't.
With both tubs I mixed substrate and spawn together and made sure it had the correct filed capacity.

Hi,
I have (surprise!) questions.
I watched the clip of coir at field capacity. Mine was much, much wetter, and yet no condensation in the tub except where the coir and spawn reached. But, the top of the coir/spawn is drier than what I think of as moist.
Also: I'm thinking this greenish-purplish stuff is, to use a technical mycology term, "not good." And then I guessed that it was from too much moisture.
So: too much moisture combined with not enough moisture combined with too much moisture, is my diagnosis.
Anybody care to guess at a better one?
Enlighten me, Bodhi.

Nice job. That look to the caps is from them being on the wet side. Next time a little less of that and you'll probably harvest a little more.

Do they make press n seal wide enough for normal mono? 17" ish? I like this idea. I've also been playing with clear-ish plastic doublewall political signs, but they need a bit of weight to be flat. Also, some sterilite low profiles don't have a flat top rim.

Oops. Was a bit too fast there. Apologies!
I have a hard time telling weather it's under good conditions. My other tub (w/ polo fill holes) has condensed water on the site, but the other one doesn't.
I guess my question is, how do I know if it needs misting or FAE? If, do I mist the sides and the spawn/substrate or just the sides? Any tips on reading the conditions or dialing in the tub is much appreciated!
Thank you!

Here's an excellent thread for proper surface conditions...experience will teach you most, but best to leave it be in most cases

Posted in Getting Started but figured I would here also. I like most noobs ordered a kit then did research. Decided to use this Tek with grain spawn sent in kit. Did a 66qt tub following Bod substrate tek but with vermiculite. 2 pics are 36 hours apart. Defintely didnt have enough spawn for for substrate but wanted to work on tub tek anyway. Time will tell.
