I fail most the time, and I've been at it for 10 years. Others are wildly successful immediately. I really depends. There is a green thumb of sorts at play. My main problem is that I think I know better and always deviate from the instructions. don't do that and you'll be one step ahead.

Sterile technique is where it’s at. If you follow that to a t, you’re over halfway there.

Depends on the person some people fail relentlessly despite following the best methods. Some people will succeed following shit methods.

Heya Bod. Awesome TEK. This was my first ever monotub (I had a few shoeboxes under my belt, so knew basically what to do). 4 quarts RW spawned to 8 quarts coir. Loved having my first MAJOR canopy! Thanks for your amazing contributions to this community.

Awesome tub!! I too have only done SB's with success. Just spawned my first mono 10 min ago! I can only dream of equal results *fingers crossed*

This day 9. Even though looking at loads of pictures, this being my first time I'm hoping my tubs look good. Right now we have them on the dining room table, constant temperature, good lighting from windows. But, we had a scare last weekend because we had to take them upstairs when the grandkids came over. More humid upstairs and heat fluctuates too much for tubs. Grain jars do great though. We did put a light casing on one tub, experimenting, just like we did with modified/unmodified lids. So.....does anything look wrong with these? Thanks in advance.

Ok, will do. I was wanting to do all 3 tubs with no casing. This was the experiment to see how much longer it takes with a casing. We have 18 jars we did G2G, they're looking good so far. The tubs were from syringes. My next step is to learn agar.

Total noob 1st grow attempt...lots of side pins but lots of top pins too. [Re: bodhisatta]

PE6 multispore syringe into 3 lb bag of milo (bought pre-made), bulk is coir and small amount of vermiculite, "cooked" in a cooler for 24 hours per Bod's Tek, didn't measure any of the ingredients just eyeballed it it then adjusted to get a fairly wet field capacity afterwards.
Inoculated spawn on 9/16, birthed to bulk substrate on 10/2, first pins on 10/15, Pics taken on 10/19
Excellent pinset (to my noob eyes anyway) albeit with tons of side pinning but don't know what I could have done differently to prevent it. Already had two sub 1" mini shrooms with broken veils that I picked out, which I take to mean that either the substrate or surface conditions were too wet.
Also started two other different strains (PESA and Corumba) going at same time but they are taking longer for some reason. Hopefully nothing screws up between now and first flush harvest. All thanks and praise to Bodhisatta!!!

My last PE6 grow pinned really bad in the bottom. Monster shrooms lifting the sub right up. Maybe it's the strain. I like a littler wetter field capacity maybe that's it. Who knows. Pins look good.

Had a question about FAE in my tub of Golden Teachers:
Can less FAE lead to skinnier or even smaller fruits? Notice how there’s some aerial mycelium on the bigger fruits. I know that’s due to lower FAE and usually people recommend increasing FAE, which I’ll most likely do here. I’m also noticing that once the caps make that initial break from the base my stems start growing considerably skinnier. If I increase FAE will the stems start growing wider...similar to the width of their bases?
