The sub has pulled a good bit from the sides since the pinset and has built up moisture there but the top got real dry when I left it (unintentially) all day with the lid sidways and the sufface mycelium turned blue and bruised. It was originally 650g choir/3.25L water when pasteurized. What sucks is I'm about to leave for Orlando and wont be back till Monday evening and I don't know what to expect when I get back. I also have a shoebox that has an awesome pinset right now and I'm worried about leaving it too.
Ok Caps heres the update. I just got back from our 3 day vacation and we were in such a hurry to leave that I left the lid off of the tub so I got alot of aborts in the middle although some look like they will go full term after I harvest the side friuts. I'm gonna try bottom watering it for the next flush. My shoe box did just fine as I uncovered it and placed it in a sweater box with a very loose fitting lid.

Bod, I'm a little confused about lighting. from the time you mix the tubs with everything... stack them in indirect light. Then... how long do they stay in that growing stage and when do you hit them with florescent lights? Thank you.

Indirect sunlight or fluorescent are both fine. Either one works. LED is fine too. You just want light with 6500K.

Hey Bod,
Using a combined approach with your unmodified tubs and stupid simple shoeboxes. I like that I can move the shoeboxes out if I need to hide it somewhere less conspicuous. The 32qt gasket box allows two 6qt shoeboxes to sit elevated on the rim. Just thought I would share this discovery with others in case it helps with their growing needs. Thanks so much for these easy to follow teks. I love my first go with shoeboxes. Just spawn to coir, snap on the lid, and mist accordingly. I began misting after about 7 days of leaving them untouched. I wonder if adding perlite to the bottom of the tub would help maintain the humidity?

Shoeboxes are a fruiting Chamber they don't need to go into one imo

True. This was more for convenience sake than anything. Could also fit a 3rd shoebox in there perpendicular to the other two shoeboxes.

How can I make rehydration in this monotube tek? I mean I can fill monotube with water. But how can I get rid of this water after? Without breaking mycelium. Monotube is rather large. And if I flip it over, mycelium will break to parts.

Why are you filling it with water. That's to harvest. You can empty the water with the same hose you filled it up with too
Hydrate with a spray bottle

Thanks! I'm asking because I read a lot of another guides, where they suggest to fully merge mycelium substrate to water for 12 hours or something. Then get this cake from water back to fruiting chamber.

Option 1: Put another tub on top to hold down substrate while you pour out.

Wondering of air here.
If was to have tubs in bathroom with light of 400w 2000k holding to temperatures around 75, finding the tubs moisture drying out from look of inner side walls. The inner walls where colonizing substrate showing moisture. A spray of mist to walls quickly to return dry after hours past. A small fan sitting on floor kept on through day. The room very dry with light to 75 degrees. The top of substrate shows dry coco coir. Would keep misting walls as to keep inner tubs showing moisture?
A few little changes been made for hope of benefit. Nothing has been keeping inner tubs showing moisture as seen to walls.

Light should be 6500K. Don't need to have the fan on all the time. Mist the sub directly, not just the walls.

Oh! Need different light.
Read not to spray mycelium directly for can damage, bruise.
Ok. So spray directly and change my bulb. 75 degrees right?
Oh blimey
If you are doing unmodified tek then do like bod does. Mushrooms like daylight but not direct light. Mycellium can bruise but only if you over do it. The best way to work out temps to grow is if you feel comfortable in a tshirt cubensis like it. 75 is close to shirts off imo. my go to temp is 65-70. Contaminants seem to grow at higher temps quicker. eg if u have a mold piggy backing you usually get a flush befor the mold takes over. Warmer and u give it more of a chance.

Please tell about correct proportions for colonised grain to coir and vermiculite. I will make 30 litres monotube. For this volume monotube, I have to use:
- 1 litre grain
- 650gr coir
- 1 litre vermiculite
- 4 litres water
Are these proportions correct?

dumb question, how do you colonize? just put the lid on upside down? or can you put aluminum foil on top in place of lid to allow gas to escape? first time with tub, wanna make sure i get it right.. bought all new stuff, pressure cooker and all thanks in advance
