I hope this is alright to post here, but was wondering if this tub is going alright? It's 4 quarts of Purple Mystics with coir in a 29qt container. I spawned it last Friday and it seems to be ok but was looking a little wet yesterday so I started taking and leaving the lid off... Think it's on the right track? Any help and guidance is greatly appreciated!

Hi my friend ! I dont see its to wet...my opinion..
Mine is a little bit wet than yours.. if u want to take a look and compare... In my felling mine Sub. is a little more wet but not for do any big damage to Myc. Start to pin 2 days ago... Not the best flush but always happy and learning growing them !

Cheers !

The color of the coir suggests (to me) that you're correct: and too wet... the lack of surface condensation (dew) tells me you've got too much FAE... I'd say as long as you don't go overboard, and try to make it a gradual shift, you're ok... id set the lid askew so that there's a small gap in opposite diagnal corners...Gteach, you're WAY wet, and looking a little bacterial IMO...

Thank you very much. I realized after getting to page 15 or 16 of this thread that I should have left the lid on but not latched until it was further colonized. I spawned the tub with the lid upside down right from the start.

Just increase FAE slightly and let it do it's thing (both of you)... no need to remove the lid completely or anything else drastic (fans etc)

Now i get it ! After re-reading my interpretation of WET in the Thebrahmsian post was bad.. As im thinking about the surface moisture,he is talking about substrate water content..
Sorry ...
English is not my language and was a wrong advice as a wrong interpretation.

Almost 24 hours with the lid open 1/2 inch and the surface moisture dry a little bit..more in the corners...
Go the right way like that Caps ?
Want to learn and apply on the next Mono Im going to do this weekend.
Here the two Unmodifieds that Im working on.

Still wet IMO, but no significant pooling... Don't give in and mist: fight the urge until/IF it nearly dries up (very little surface moisture at all...) I'd suspect it'll finish first flush without you needing to touch it, so long as you're not going overboard with FAE... all about balance, which makes my OCD a real challenge at times bc I'm typically balls to the wall in one direction or the other... I often wonder if I'm cultivating the mushrooms, or vice versa: they've instilled a great deal of patience, self awareness, and understanding in me... and that was before consuming them! I can't name the positive changes the consumption of the fruit I've grown have made in me and my environment... This is where it's at! Random exploitation over!Lol
All and all, looks much better imo, and I'd fix the lid back to see if excess surface moisture accrues again... if so, it's a pretty good indication that you're over field capacity as well... all just my opinion though...

I really do try... I hope it works out well, but I'm sure, as it wasn't in horrible shape to start... just tipping point IMO... and again, just my opinion, which holds no bearing over anyone else's... there are a few I've seen that like them/get away with what I'd consider uber wet substrates
Your local climate will play a huge factor in what works best for you, as well as your personal prep, interpretation of field capacity, etc... good luck to you my friend, and UPDATE!

My first flush of my first mono. Thanks for all the info here, it turned out better than I could have hoped for. Took Caps tip from the shoebox thread and set up a fluorescent light the past few days. I can see some fattening vs. Just using natural light.

32 qt 4.5 days after mixing to substrate...am I looking too dry?
I know you say that normally it does not need mist at all until after the first flush, but comparing pics, I am a bit concerned.

thanks
