Damn.
Two employees just ghosted, and now I have to go out of town for work for 2 weeks. ...just as I set up my first ever mini monos yesterday.
I'm leaving in 3 days.
In that 2 week span, do you think my casing will be fine unattended? I used this tek, and did about a 1:1 to 1:2 spawn to coir ratio.
If I have to, I can get my mom to check out the progress, and mist or throw out contaminants. I trust her to keep it a secret and all, but I'd still rather have no one know about this.

Just depends man... you know that... was your spawn clean, MS culture? Familiar variety? Could get back just in time to see the veil break, could come home to a detonated trich bomb

MS syringe, B+
I guess I'll just have her help out. She's gonna be excited
Also, I have 5 other half pint brf jars that are like 60% colonized. Should I put them in the fridge when I leave to stall the growth or let them continue to grow.
I'm probably overthinking this, I'm just very excited. This shit is addicting.

If there is a "her" to help out, don't sweat it... looking at roughly 3 weeks from spawn to harvest with healthy spawn
Brf cakes should probably go in the fridge, though they'll fruit invitro lol

Hello All, This is my first post here. Grateful for all that I have learned and looking forward to learning much more.
My first grow was from what I now know as an outdated TEK. I was however able to have pretty good success for my first grow. I am giving unmodified tubs a try now. Seems much easier than my first grow.
I used 2 3qt bags PES Hawaiian per brick of Coir (Bod's bucket TEK).I have 2 tubs going. Spawn to coir on 1/3. Temp fluctuations were an early problem but I seem to have gotten temp under control. I'm 9 days in and wondering if they are in a good spot currently. Here are a few shots of the tubs. Thanks, Thom.

I've been reading that as the spawn is colonizing, you should see beads of moisture on the walls of the tub. Or is it supposed to have moisture when it is fully colonized? I touched it and it feels barely damp. Definitely no visible moisture anywhere. I've had the lid flipped since the start so I'm thinking I should mist.

Condensation will start to occur near full colonization... it indicates a higher temp inside than outside the tub, and this is due to heat generated by the culture by way of metabolism... I'd not concern myself with condensation, as this temp difference is all it indicates... surface conditions should be monitored rather than the sides of the tub... is it fully colonized? How long since you spawned? I Usually don't see surface moisture until a day or two after full colonization, and it's not long after for heavier condensation... got a picture?

Thought I would post my results here. This was a Brazil clone, 54 quart tub, 6 q spawn to 1 brick coir. I did pseudo-case it at spawn with about 1/4" of coir because I'm still not great at getting surface conditions right with no top layer. I must not have mixed it up evenly, you can see the gap in the middle, which fruited second flush. I flipped the lid after a week and misted once. I had to leave them too long because I was gone for the holidays.

I'm still bit confused on substrate ratio.

1 spawn to 1 to 4 substrates by volume. Or one brick of coir to 2-8 jars of spawn(3-7 is my suggestion)

I have some other tubs that got a little neglected over the holidays I am working to salvage. No contams that I can see, but just shit pinning.
Moving forward, have 3 tubs that I spawned a week ago. They are humming along.
At which point do you flip the lid to push them towards fruiting conditions?

So you do 650g coir, hydrated with 3.25L, per tub and then 3-7 mycoquarts of grain spawn?

Yep, that's the typical standard. Most folks aim for 5 mycoquarts of grain spawn per tub.
That's what all of my tubs are.

Just responding with pictures about my earlier post. It's been hard to really tell what is happening because I am out of town and having someone help with these tubs. These being my first ever.
Only coir and verm. No casing. Left the lid upside down since the start. Surface feels barely damp.
They've been in here for about 8 days, the one that is the least colonized has been there maybe 10 days can't remember... but I'm thinking I should mist that one it's lagging behind.
It's really killing me being out of town for my first go around. heh.

they look like they are gonna dry out in that big of a container. that looks like maybe a quart of sub and grain altogether? you should use the grocery store bag tek instead to keep every drop of water near the surface and mist if it gets dry which it looks like its on its way to doing.
