Your big tub looks dry to me. Your small tubs looks like it might be on the wet side.

1 set of tubs. Start was rocky, because the first batch of spores sent sucked and didnt even grow on plates. Vendor made it right and sent me a good batch and all went well. Shit happens. So far I had 3 cases of bacterial contamn from agar transfers over several cases of jars. Followed tek to the T. First tub in the left(PE) was from 8/28. The other three are from yesterday (B+,CR,APE). Went unmodified because usually I am gone for 5 days out of the week, and I cant expect my SO to get her hands dirty.

Can anyone vouch for a rye grain prep technique? Thereโs a lot of dated threads out there

Thanks Bod this has been a great learning experience and tons of fun!! I've really try'd to get a method that works with my area that'll alow me to get a solid flush without any intervention and here it is. This tub had just a really light casing on top at spawn with a flipped lid. Other then moving the lid tword the end to increase FAE this tub saw no misting or intervention of any kind. Truly set and forget!!

I like that you noticed your problem and corrected it with the light casing. A little experience and skill go a long way too. Exactly what I try to say in the TEK. A TEK can only say so much

Caps McGee said: You can latch 1-4 latches to seal FAE up in intervals, or turn the lid at an angle for progressively larger gaps at opposite corners to increase FAE... literally an array of varying degrees from none to all... Not simply "flipped or not flipped"... if the sub starts to dry, ADD WATER! These aren't unmanageable conditions... attention, and eyes for details/basic understanding of the needs of your variety
Right right, completely agree. However, rotating the lid any degree will only INCREASE FAE and DECREASE humidity. I am having a hard enough time keeping humidity in, let alone opening up the lid more. So your suggestion is to flip the lid the "correct tote-y" way and cut off the FAE? Even not latched, it still makes a good seal. Then flip it back again the next day. Then flip again... then flip again? Just keep exchanging the air? Good thought, but then again, I severely doubt everyone below does this. They all have lots of side condensation. Mine is dry. (Room is at RH of 58%. No ceiling fan on, just central AC.)
The only reason I have condensation now is because I misted two days ago. Granted it has stayed around, but is still drying up rather than condensating more.

I'm just going to leave it as it is and not mess with it unless I can see it really needs a mistin'. Thanks again all!

kerberus said: Hi guys, first B+ tub loads of questions! Spawned on 16th August with 1200g spawn and 2400g coir and this is it today 17 days later.
First question, is this fuzzy feet? if so do i just up the FAE?
This grow is MS 3 transfers to Agar to Oats then G2G. Which group/fruit would you guys take a clone from?

I also did a shoebox at the same time with the same grain 500g to 500g coir and this is what it looks like with just a couple of side pins, what am i doing wrong with this one!
thank you for all the info and help, Kerberus.
1. Yes, but not terrible, and depending on genetics, some is normal... a slight increase in FAE should help, but wouldn't be too concerned, or sacrifice humidity for more air... if you can open air and not lose substantial moisture go for it... if it dries to quickly, mist (maybe bottom water) and close it back up a little... 2. Wait until maturity, and clone the fastest finishing from the largest cluster. 3. Be patient

Slushie said: Okay so this is my first monotub so bear with me here. I made my coir with 3250 grams of water instead of the 4 quarts. So I started this off on the drier side. Realized my mistake somehow after I made the tub. I decided to stick with it and just mist as I seen the top dry. So here is my tub 7 days 12 hours after spawn. Can anyone help me out here. Is it looking good or naw??
So I held on to the tub. Pretty sure itโs got Trich. Thereโs a big green spot in the corner but also a lot of pins forming. Iโm now on day 13. Do I keep it? Are they safe to eat?? Should I keep this tub far away from my others or is it good like with just the lid on flipped. Donโt wanna waste these shrooms as itโs my first grow. Any help is appreciated.

Looks a little wispy, may have some bacteria, but will probably fruit... just provide FAE and monitor surface moisture
