I find my unmodded tubs don't seem to get enough FAE unless I leave a big gap but then the corners and sides dry out fast. Working all day doesn't allow me to mist so I end up coming home to an overly dry surface. I stick with modded tubs for this reason but that's after years of using unmodded tubs and just fanning and misting daily.

windyroom said: Hello! I've got a new tub and wanted to try this tek. My tub lids are a bit different, they're not coming with a rubber between the lid and tub which means they don't make a perfect seal anyway, but still don't provide enough fae performing the lid like its right way.

And if i just flip the lid it completely sits on the walls without any crack! So I think it is not gonna make enough fae. I tried putting some foled aluminum foil between the lid in two ways, one with putting a thicker foil below the lid when it is applied the right way and one with putting a thinner foil below the lid when it is applied flipped over ! Which one do u think is better ?

The flipped over version i think provides more fae though the foil is thinner, because when the lid applied the right way it curves in on the tub walls and the foil makes it higher but still the curve restricts the fae I think !
Flip the lid and use the thick tinfoil to create a decent gap.

Give the tub more time before you start worrying about condensation.

I don't think either really make a huge difference at this stage, on principle I tend to keep my spawning subs semi closed so generally keep the lid on correctly and flip later but honestly if you consider unmodified tubs offer permanent ge, I can't see what difference it would make to have the lid flipped as the gaps are generally tiny anyway.

Brian Jones said: Well as you said, I shouldn't be concerned about condensation at this stage, but that's the difference it's making; upside down, no condensation, right side up, a little. I'm just used to seeing condensation, so it was a concern, and I have no experience with this tek, and traditional mono's were too long ago to remember.
Condensation takes a bit of time to cover the walls at this early stage, have you allowed the flipped lid tub time for condensation to form? If you have and still find the lid right side up works better then flip it back and continue with it that way until you're ready to fruit. When I run unmodded tubs I keep the lid right side up until I mostly see fullish colonization and then I flip to introduce fae.

That wasn't too much for me, you have to dial in your methods.

No, no value in adding eggshells.
