Ressurection
(I don' t know what this is but here it comes. If it sounds like a trip report it is because it is composed at the end of one)
I suddenly realized my role in the scheme of things, and it was utterly insignificant. I was as good as nothing, indistinct as a smear. I pulled out a pack of cigarettes and had a pathetic smoke. I became a shapeless lump with a dumb look on its face, wondering:What the fuck is this? I saw an amazingly tall filing cabinet nearby and started digging through it trying to find when I'd been born and where and if. I looked for a bed to crawl into so I could lie there and embrace the only thought in my head that liked me, the one that wanted to figure out what was wrong so it could fix it. For the longest time I lay there knowing I was dead. My life had been erased like bad spelling. I may have been hours like this or days, when I finally chanced to look up and saw the return air register in the ceiling. "Why" I thought,"if I am dead do I see the return air register?" I started to feel horribly ridiculous. I got up and moved around. I thought of Lazarus and smiled up at the register, and thought of Achilles in hell, who had lived all his short life stoned on pride with his hands on his hips, fucked to pieces by death, blown tumbling down streams of hot wind, promising the gods anything if they would grant him another life in the upper world, any life, that of a slave, say, or of a slave's ratty dog...

this was written about 6 years ago after a a very up and down mushroom trip. Believe it or not, it is an optimistic report.
Anyway, I assure you, if you haven't already had one of these, if you continue use, you will. I hope you live to tell about it.If you do, you will be better for it.
I got very mixed reviews, by the way, the last time I posted this.Lots of psyche users are basically in denial as to what these substances can do.
It reminds me of the old joke: Q: What do you say when you meet a 500 lb gorilla? A: Uncle
Now, if there is you and there are mushrooms--which one, do you think, is the 500lb gorilla?

You have my sympathy, and I don't want to make fun, but I had to laugh a little.
It reminded me of that scene in Antz (see clip at +- 1:50), where Woody Allen is at the shrink and says he feels so insignificant. The shrink says: Excellent, you've made a real breakthrough. Woody: I have? Shrink: Yes, ... because you are insignificant!
Seriously though, accepting your own insignificance is probably a necessary part of accepting who and what you are. But it will always be a paradox. To (and for) our loved ones we are very significant. But to our city, country, society, planet, or galaxy, we are probably of only very marginal significance. And if we are, it remains to be seen if we have any positive influence at all, or if we are just polluters of some kind.
A rough trip can teach you this, but so can a burn out, sleep deprivation, or loosing your job.
Perhaps this is why some people turn to the Love of their god. Or if they can't see any gods, to Love itself. It can make everything you come into contact with of lasting significance.
Love, Hanz.

There is nothing like a mushroom trip to strip away pretense. Mushrooms are merciless. They straight arm you.
I love them a lot but so many people on this forum treat them like goof balls. They are like ten year olds who haven't yet learned to ride a bicycle jumping on 1000cc Ducatis-- Oh Boy!
Really, you should pray before you take them. You should tread carefully, softly in their presence. Let them know that you know their power. The Mexicans call them little saints. I don't know, but after a "difficult trip" or two, I want to call them giants.
