It would. Essentially it is the same as a glovebox, but it does have a larger opening than two circles.
How do you clean the device?

I just keep a propane torch lit on a table near my SAB. whenever I need to flame I simply pull said item out of the SAB and apply the flame.
Just gotta keep safety in mind.
I'm used to using a flow hood, but recently I've been using a glove box, and once I start working, I don't want to pull out (insert dirty joke here) . . .
(paranoia is a factor)
But seriously, thanks for that comment. I needed that. It's tough to change one's habit . . .

Google?
Seriously, this is common aseptic technique.
Here is a Youtube video:
Believe Bio Rad if you can trust them.
This is common practice and can be found very easily in a search.

This was another googlebomb anyway.

Bunsen burners get used in labs where bacteria is grown out and the cultures are tossed within a week.....we keep our cultures for far longer, so we need to take more precautions than that......the next best thing to a LFH is a SAB.....

Reduce the amount of contaminant in the air and the work area.
So spray the environment down with lysol and wipe the SAB with alcohol.
The most important process is your technique though, fidgeting and moving quickly and hastily will fuck you over more than anything.

I use a big plastic tub placed upside down. First I spray the air in the area Im going to be working in with soapy water. I use to use Lysol but didn't get more contamination when I switched to just soapy water. Wipe my SAB down with ISO, put in on a clean towel, spray the inside with soapy water, wipe my jars, tools etc with iso & put them in the box. Some times I'll spay once more with soapy water. Then wait a couple of min then get to work.

is it not difficult to dry the box out when you have sprayed all that stuff? not much airflow would mean little evap. i personally noticed problems evaping alcohol, of all things in my old glovebox/sab

I don't dry it out. Just a few mists to bring down and spores, etc that may be in the air. I don't spray it till water is dripping off the top or anything like that.
