i have always used the kitchen (gas) stove. the needle gets hot enough to glow orange.

I wouldn't recommend doing SAB work in your kitchen either, they are disgusting. I know a lot of people here do and it works fine but it's not ideal.

IME the real key is to work efficiently and quickly. but i should probably note that i do heat the needle for every single injection.

your stove if gas works fine for sterilizing a needle instead of an alcohol lamp but the big problem is why the fuck you're doing mycology work anywhere near where people usually put stoves.

Some like to eat grilled cheese when inoculating bod! Or hot knifing.. but again why don't you just get a blow torch? $5 for the fitting and $5 a can. And 1 cans lasted me SOOOO many inoculations

I don't use gloves for SAB work at all, and you can use a SAB next to a pile of literal shit if the air in the room is still and you're techniques are good. but seriously find a better place than a kitchen, wear gloves until you're better than michael J fox with sterile technique. there's lots of things that can be gotten away with, or that have worked in the past, or that people do with great results, that doesn't mean it's not stupid though.
