I did have it in my closet for a few weeks since i first got it. It wasn't getting any light or water. maybe that was a mistake?

And no that picture was not under a blacklight just a closeup with a lamp on no flash, but wow now i really wish i had one to try lol.

Yeah, sticking an actively growing cactus in the dark is a mistake.  You will need to adjust that plant back to the light very gradually or it will burn.  The black rot will probably clear up and if you manage not to burn the white area, it should start producing chlorophyl eventually.  You can only store dormant cacti in the dark, has to be under a certain temperature, otherwise, they think they're underground and will grow like that.

Not making fun of you, but this is one of the more comical threads I've stumbled across recently. Give it more light....

IDK what your plans are for this cacti, and IDK your situation in real life, but if you had that thing in your closet to hide the fact that you had it from someone, that just isn't gonna work... You can't 'stealth grow' cacti. It's gonna have to get put outside in good sunlight to thrive...

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

wow, you should not grow anything. it is almost instinctual knowledge that living organisms on this planet need sunlight and water. If you don't know that basic idea....I am just going to stop.

I would advise getting some nice additional light if you want it indoors. At this point, I would advise shocking it by putting it in direct sun. give it a lamp, with a full spectrum . . regular lightbulbs do not usually provide the full wavelengths of light (blue, violet, and green) to stimulate growth. with some extra light it should snap back. The top is coming to a tapered point because of (etiolation). It is reaching for light. As for the black spots. I can't be certain.. but if you have a DAMP soil in the pot, you might be getting some (rot) too. Although trichocereus tend to enjoy more water than some varieties, they do not like having roots standing in dampness. You (might) be over loving your plant with water. If it is indeed a fungal infection, you would want to treat it. I would maybe take some close ups of those black spots for some of us to take a better look at. Someone here might be able to identify them and offer a course of treatment, if it is indeed an infection of a kind.
