RGS Agar?

Hello! Thus is my first post here but I have tried searching put the answer to my question and haven't had a whole lot of luck,so here I go. I've been doing some reading on isolating on agar and it definitely seems like the way to go. One of the post I seen said that you want your agar to kind of mimic your spawn/substrate. So that way you know which of the cultures do well with the particular grain/nutes you plan on using. The issue that has come up is that I use RGS and none of the agar recipies include it as an ingredient. I've considered using the run off from soaking as the water in the agar mixture but that doesn't seem too consistent and the nutrients could vary from dish to dish. Another idea I had was grinding up some RGS to powder and using that instead. Maybe something like 2/3 agar and 1/3 RGS powder? Anyone with any experience/experience have any suggestions? Thanks!

I make plates with RGS water from boiling the seed when hydrating it. You can do 25ml of RGS water and .5g of agar agar per dish. You can adjust the amounts with the same ratio for different sized plates or do it as a no pour. Violet has a link to instructions in her signature.

Yeah!
When I prepare RGS I boil the shit out of it. After letting the kept water settle, the liquid that can be poured off the top (not the starchy settled stuff on the bottom) makes great agar. (I haven't found ground grass seed to work quite as well) It doesn't matter that the 'recipe' might change a little from dish to dish. That's only much of a concern with sugar ingredients. Just don't dilute your grainwater any further.
I often make up agar from scratch by boiling fine brown rice flour in water. Be sure to let it settle first, and leave the settled part behind.

Thanks for the replies dudes. Sounds like the water from draining isn't as bad as an idea as I thought it was. Looks like ill give it a shot.
