ID help please

I like to think that I am fairly knowledgeable when it comes to identification, but this one stumped me.

Found these mushrooms on a live Douglas Fir in an old growth forest on the Oregon Coast.  They were growing about 2-3 feet up the trunk of the tree in little clusters of about 3. They are a pinkish brown.  Where they attached to the tree, they had a little bit of a greenish tinge. They're all between 3-6 inches tall. Cap: ~1-2 inches in diameter, and the stipe is 3/4"-1.5" thick and very fibrous/stringy when I pulled it apart.

They have gills that continue down the stem a bit, but you have to look closely to see that. The fresher ones have creamy colored gills, the older ones are darker.  Spore print is white.  I don't have a microscope to see what shape the spores are, though.

The scent is very mild, earthy.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

All I can think of is that this is a Lentinus sp.
