NBA 2015-2016
    #22334500 - 10/04/15 08:07 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Preseason underway!

Which team has made the best moves in the off season?

I like the added depth of the Clippers. A second unit of Rivers, Crawford, Stephenson, Johnson and Smith seems pretty decent!

Miami should be a bit stronger as well I think. Dragic settling in, Bosh returning, Whiteside continuing what he did last season. Also very deep with Chalmers, Green, Winslow, McRoberts and Stoudemire as a nice second unit.

Should be a nice season again

Dude the clippers had an amazing offseason manging to keep deandre and adding some major depth. I can't fucking wait for the season to start. My hawks are gonna be garbage though I'm already calling it. Not sure how we plan on replacing demaree Carrolls production on both ends of the floor. I'm excited nonetheless though

I don't think the Hawks will drop that much by losing only DeMarre. Sure they have problems on the wing offensively. But losing one player won't make them garbage overnight. Will they break records like last season? Probably not. That felt a little bit like a fluke. But they will still play very good basketball. I believe.

The east is getting stronger. I just think losing Scott and carroll is huge. Carroll was easily our best defender and the dude was clutch during the playoffs.

Shefelosha is a strong defender. I think you'll just lose out offensively.

You're right about the east.

I like what the Bucks are doing for instance. They are young, but no longer too young. And eager. I think they will continue their upward trend, but maybe not as pronounced as last season.

Jazz gonna nab that #8 seed this year.

I can feel it.

Ill agree with Malcom that the east is getting stronger but its still the Cavs versus the west.

Yeah definitely. No major overnight shifts occured in the power distribution. I'm hopeful for your Jazz as well Elax. At least you guys own the paint. Rudy forced opponents to shoot the lowest fg% at the rim last year!

Hes gonna turn some heads this year.

Hayward and Favors both had the best seasons in their career and we were actually one of the better teams after the all star break, so hopefully it keeps trending upwards.

I heard he called out D.Rose?

Personally, i think Jimmy Butler is your best player. He’s gonna need to play better though, ALOT better.
Didn’t Lebron hit game winner right over his head last year during the playoffs

Oh ya that was sick as fuck. Lebron called his own play off the throw in, then hit like a 17 ft stepback from the baseline right over jimmy "buckets"

For real though D.Rose is still a great player. Im sad too hear what happened, but it should be no shock to anybody at this point. Dude came up huge in that cavaliers season.

http://www.vox.com/2015/10/9/9488877/thabo-sefolosha-police-video

On April 8, New York City police officers told Sefolosha, who is black, to leave an area around a club where another NBA player, Chris Copeland, had been stabbed, ESPN reported. Police said Sefolosha disobeyed orders, forcing them to take him into custody. But Sefolosha said he had moved off the block after being ordered out by a vulgar police officer, and was trying to give $20 to a beggar before he was taken to the ground by cops.

The cops' use of force fractured Sefolosha's right leg — a very, very bad injury for a professional basketball player, and one that ended the season early for him. Sefolosha said he hasn't made a decision on whether he will sue the city for the takedown and injury — but if other cases are any indication, a lawsuit could cost taxpayers millions of dollars, especially if a jury considers the potential impact of a season-ending injury for a basketball player.

But more than being potentially damaging to Sefolosha's career, the case highlights yet another instance of police using force against an unarmed black man. With this issue getting more attention in the year after the Ferguson, Missouri, protests, any potential litigation could become part of a much broader national conversation on racial disparities in the criminal justice system.

Police officers said Sefolosha was disobeying orders, so they took him to the ground

Sefolosha was departing from a nightclub in New York City when police took him to the ground, allegedly for taking too long to leave the area of a crime scene in which two women and Indiana Pacers player Chris Copeland
Police said Sefolosha wasn't involved in the stabbing incident, but he was charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing governmental administration, and resisting arrest after allegedly disobeying police orders to leave the scene.

A VIDEO SHOWED POLICE GRABBING SEFOLOSHA BY THE NECK AND TAKING HIM TO THE GROUND

Prior to the takedown, Sefolosha had said that he challenged the tone of an aggressive officer who told him to leave the area, according to ESPN. Sefolosha, who is 6-foot-6, said he called the 5-foot-7 officer "a midget."

A video, released by TMZ Sports, showed police grabbing Sefolosha by the neck and taking him to the ground. One officer brandished a baton in the video. But it's not clear in the footage what caused Sefolosha's injury, although he's shown seemingly limping away.

Prosecutors offered Sefolosha a plea deal to dismiss the charges in exchange for one day of community service, but he said he wanted to set the record straight. The jury took roughly 30 minutes to deliberate, according to CNN, finding Sefolosha not guilty.

Sefolosha's leg injury required surgery. He's now been cleared to play, but only after the injury ended the previous season early for him, including the playoffs.

Beyond hurting Sefolosha's leg and potentially his career, though, the case reveals a startling fact about criminal justice: Black people are much more likely to have police use force against them.

LeBron talks shit about his kicks and claims to be in the same class as Michael
Jordan.

Quote:

I used to see guys wear MJ's shoes when they played against MJ and I was like "MJ got a little mental edge over those guys."

So for me, now being in that MJ class, I'm like, if I see a guy wearing my shoes, if he's not like a real good brother of mine - because you know I've got some guys that are Team LeBron and that's what we do - but if you're just a guy and you go to Foot Locker or somewhere and you just get a pair of LeBrons and you want to wear them on a Tuesday night against me? I'm gonna bust your a**.

If only he had won those last finals where his legacy was on the line. He could be who he thinks he is... So sad.
