I'm writing a story about a wizard.
What are some good wizard names?

"Sirius". Its the name of my bass (I usually hate the concept of naming instruments, by the way).. I'd be lying if I said it didn't come from that Harry Potter book, though. hehe
Quentin, maybe? I'm trying to think of more, can't come up with anything... agghh... Jaymz might be sorta cool. hehe. Anders or Bjorn? Jesper? Loki? Baldur...
Sorry, my mind is completely dead... Peace.

I'm looking for something more fanciful, like Mortichai or Voden, not larry or rex.

Well, I didn't think I was giving examples like "Larry" or "Rex"... I was getting pretty out there without just making up stuff...
Hell, you could always name him Bill Clinton. Peace.

Depends. Is he an ancient, Lord of the Rings style wizard, or a new age Dungeons and Dragons playing, still lives with his mom, wiccan type of wizard?

He's a shroom wizard.
Maybe a Smurfs wizard name....
Definitely midievalish, but in a psychedelic Smurfy kind of way.

Hmm...a couple names come to mind. I've used these names before in video/computer games for my mage-based characters.
Xrustasces (Said Zru stas keys)
Dakhanavar (It's actually a vampire name, but I love it all the same)
Hope these help, and if not, maybe they'll spark something of your own that you like.
