Birds are smart! 1

So i waas standing under my mimosa tree outside, and i hear this loud "crack" behind me.
I look, and its a walnut.
Then i thought "Why is there a walnut falling from the mimosa tree?". So i look up and i see a blue jay. Damn blue jay is smart!
he flew away and gawked at me
So i did him a favor and threw the walnut at the ground real hard, shattering the nut, so he can get the tasty insides.
Birds are awesome

The Blue Jay wasn't trying to crack the nut, he was trying to hit you. Blue jays are incredibly territorial, and you were too close.

growing up one of the farm kitties we had (both were really adept hunters) would only ever kill blue jays, she must have liked the flavor.

Blue Jays are hella rambunctious birds, I love them
They have a lot to say. A lot you might not want to hear, and I know it might be tough but Jerry would have wanted this, you know?

I don't necessarily advocate doing such things, but if you split a crow's tongue, it can speak.

Quaker parrots develop dialects in how they communicate and also cultural traditions. They have colonies all over the world, and they all are different cultures. You know how awesome that is? It proves they have a similar cultural aspect like humans and other socially complex animals.

I doubt that raptors and owls get quakers that often. They build pretty big nests, and have parrots guarding the entrance. Plus they bite hella hard, and are pretty aggressive. It does happen though, and that sucks Just hopefully not too often.

I don't think dialects are usually planned out rationally.
It just happens with a certain amount of separation.
Whether it's genetic or not I dont know.
By "cultural traditions" do you just mean weird shit they do in one geographical region vs. weird shit they do in another?

I don't consider it a sign of intelligence there, either
A lot of it stems from superstition which would lead me to believe the opposite.

I don't see your point there. Humans don't plan out dialects either, they just form over time. I'm assuming it's not genetically embedded though just like our dialects aren't.
ps- There are a few species of bird that are a lot more intelligent than we knew of in the past is all. I don't think anyone is trying to say they're as smart as humans, haha

Back in high school there was this chicken coop I had to walk past to get to the bus stop and this rooster would always climb out of the coop and chase me down the road
One day he got a little ballsier and started slashing at my legs with his talons so I kicked that motherfucker so hard he went over the fence and landed back in the coop
That rooster never fucked with me again
