Have some mycelium, can't decide how to proceed
    #2233225 - 01/10/04 03:02 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

A strange man I know has followed the corncob mycelium slurry tek. The corncob has been sitting at a little over 80F for five days, he just checked it today and the mycelium inside is just exploding.

Anyway, he has a supply of both yellow straw and Scott's 3-in-1 organic compost mix. He has two fairly large rubbermaid tubs (about 3x1.5) and one smaller one. In a few days he's going to have a big stewpot full of corncob spawn, and he's not really sure what to do with it all. The planning is somewhat complicated by the fact that he left the 3-in-1 outside for a couple of days and it is now frozen solid, and he isn't really sure what to do about that.

Advice?

bring the 3-in-1 inside, let it that and re-pasturize it with the straw. get a 22+ gallon rubbermaid container and case your mixture in that when its colonized. Thats just what i would do.

Mix the straw and the compost? He had been planning to do them separately. About what mixture of straw/compost is good, like 50/50?

Its not a real set mixture, but I use something closer to a 70/30 compost to straw, you can pretty much mix it to look however you want.
