taking a clean print
    #22332199 - 10/04/15 11:03 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

i have a mushroom ready for a print. but I'm confused as how to take the mushroom out of the fc without getting contams in the gills.. obviouslyy there is already thousand upon thousands of contams in the fc already from opening it up and misting and shit while they're growing, so wouldn't there be contams in the spores and shit already too?

Yes, prints are never 100% sterile, that's why you have to swipe it on agar first, and transfer away from contams till you have a clean plate to work with. :awesomenod:

Take the mushroom out, bring it to your prepped SAB, flame the scalpel. Cut as close to the gills as possible but don't touch the gills with the blade.

Take your spore print in the SAB, wait 24-48 hours.

No spore print is 100% clean unless it's an invitro fruit. Most of us just clean up the print on agar.

EDIT: Also what Psilo said
